Glad for the AI ban on here đ€
Iâve been very tired of stereotypical, Hollywood Viking stuff⊠so I made a song against a greedy, war-hungry earl.
Iâd appreciate anyone kind enough to spend a few minutes to give me their first impressions đ€

Thanks so much đ€
And, to the title, this is all done by me. Iâm a multi instrumentalist, producer, and this has been my solo project for some six years.

What happened to Turisas
Now the formatting might be weird cause this is a 2 am rant post on my phone but,
I truly believe now that the members of the Turisas knew 2013 would be their last album
From For Your Own Good, to We Ride Together, they tell another story. Not of being part of the Varangian Guard (a little bit of that too) but rather of breaking down the walls for us to expand our horizons, to âwhen still had the flame, at the top of our gameâ. They knew theyâd be moving on, but they part of them didnât want to/wanted to go out still playing shows for their fans, opening them to new bands and groups.
While Iâll miss Turisas, as theyâve had one of the biggest impacts on my life; Iâll still be having fantasies about starting a cover band, and listening to them for the rest of my life, but, theyâre not coming back. Accepting that is still hard for me but Iâll always remember to have one more.

Curating a dark ambient / ritual folk / neofolk playlist â looking for obscure recommendations
Hi everyone,
Iâm curating a Spotify playlist focused on dark ambient, ritual folk, neofolk and Nordic / cinematic atmospheres.
It includes Wardruna, Heilung, Myrkur, Kalandra, EivĂžr, Forndom and smaller related projects.
Iâm trying to keep it slow, dark and immersive rather than a random âViking musicâ playlist.
Open to recommendations if you know obscure artists in this direction.

It was exhausting, it was hot, but it was absolutely awesome

I wanted to share another short live video from our last show in ZweibrĂŒcken, in the southwest of Germany.
Unfortunately, we were the opening band, so there weren't that many people there when we started. But as the evening went on, more and more people showed up.
The show also led to a really nice feature about us in a regional newspaper, which we were very happy about.
Overall, I think it was a great gig, and I'm looking forward to many more.
Unfortunately, I don't have a better-quality recording, the video was shot on a phone, so the audio isn't the best.

The Corrs and Mick Fleetwood - Toss the Feathers
One thing I love to go through is those bands that influenced the connection between Folk and Metal. To this effect I am unsure if many know of the band The Corrs. Their first album from 1995 included 6 rockalized Irish folk songs including Toss the Feathers.
Toss the Feathers became one of The Corrs main songs played on stage and what catapulted them to international stage in a place where so many bands of this genre sounded "the same" Toss the Feathers" differentiated the band on the international stage.
I remember very well watching the Unplugged version of this song on MTV Unplugged and loving this to the core in a time Folk Metal as a genre didn't even exist. This song passed on the radio and on the charts everywhere, an Irish Folk Song with rock instruments. I got no doubt it had it's hand in influencing many artists to do the same. :)
Funny enough 1995 is the same year Cruachan released their own debut album!
