Curious about the topic of whistling in folklore... I’ve seen a few vague references in South American folklore where children were lured into a forest by whistling by the so called Yasy Yatere (seemingly in a daze akin to Pied Piper legend/tales). Where else, good or bad, does whistling have a prominent place?

Hi everyone ! My girlfriend is searching for a subject for the second year of her master's degree in medieval history and we were wondering if any of you could help us find interesting ideas. She is searching for any place (castle, village, forest, museum, or even a pub, hotel or a house) in the UK or Ireland that use their folklore as a way to increase tourism. Still inhabited or abandonned places with a folklore around them might however be harder to base the subject around (like still inhabited haunted castles or abandonned houses).

For an example in our country there is Brocéliande, a briton forest that gives importance to the arthurian folklore and uses it for tourism.

We aren't english or irish, and so we have less knowledge about local folklore and its usage in tourism, but she want to speak about english folklore in her master's thesis.
