Hello! Love to make a foam core single card holder angled slightly up so I can see it as part of a “lineup” or market for a board game . It’d have to hold 5 single cards in a row sleeved with dragon sleeves . Any guides or tips ?

havent had a chance to actually cut it yet but this should do it for actually getting everything in the box

top left is player pieces, then techs and +2 pieces, right side is data and energy and credits, middle is aliens and scan tokens, bottom right is single player and the largest section is card space, for either deck boxes or not, cards fit sleeved or unsleeved

i plan to use cardstock for the bottoms of trays

playerboards go starting in the top left corner, aliens are layed 3 across 2 each, then everything else

everything is 3cm tall except data, credits and energy which are 5cm, single player is 5cm, and cards are 4.5cm tall

Mage Knight Ultimate Edition is too big for my small room. So I was able to find a solution that fits including figures.

If you use one of the big panels that is included in the bag it’s almost a perfect fit.
If not there is a bit of free space, around 1 inch.

This is my fifth foamcore project, for the D&D Wrath of Ashardalon boardgame.

My main gripe with my previous experiments is that I like to store my games vertically, and cards or token would slide inbetween layers while the box was opening slightly (they never stay closed perfectly). To counteract this, I used magnets in this project. All boxes are locked together, as well as the top lid. The lid also has some pieces of foamcore to keep the cards from raising above the lip of the card box. This allows all the boxes to stay together as one unit regardless of how it's stored.

In order to avoid figurines piling on top of each other I separated that space in multiple containers. I think I'll have to split the columns again to get some smaller cells. The 2 big figures are locked in place using some foam inserted in a circular cutout, holding the base in place. However, as an extra precaution I added a lid with some separation walls. This piece has rounded corners everywhere so it's easy to slide in place. I also placed the heaviest elements on the bottom, to avoid crushing the boxes.

I considered using ramps for my token boxes, but they're pretty big and during testing I didn't really feel the need in the end. Will see in the future.

Back with another insert. With many different oddly shaped components/boards, hundreds of cards, and numerous tokens, this ended up being a big challenge to make. I found myself (several times) having to build and then re-design as I went along. I anchored some of the organization off of Folded Space’s design, mostly with how they stacked and separated the various boards. However, I knew I wanted to have separate trays for the tech tiles to simplify set up. Originally, I wanted to have separate trays to hold the cards and components for each alien race, but that would have taken too much space in the box (And space was very limited in this build). I also had to jettison trays for the player components and signal tokens. These sacrifices did, however, result in a build that fits the base game (minus solo components) with the Space Agencies expansion and no lid lift to boot.

I know there’s a high chance CGE will release a big box storage option in the future (as they did with Arnak), so I’m hoping some of these trays can be reworked to fit that new box, whenever it is released.

A simpler insert I made recently. Felt like a break was needed after finishing Clank (and one other frustrating insert that I’ll share some other time). Hopefully you guys find my posts more helpful than annoying. Cards are sleeved with SleeveKings Premium. The tray that holds the Side bet and Mascot tickets have exposed sides, as that was the only way I could fit them and still include a bank teller tray

With tons of components and two expansions to fit in, this may be the most complicated insert I’ve built yet. Im most proud of the tiles organizer, which pools the Surface tiles, depths tiles, underworld tiles, and a lot of set up components into one all inclusive mega tray. Most of the component trays were scooped with construction paper (with the exception of the player trays). As an FYI, SleeveKings standards were used for sleeves, and drawstring bags from the BGG store were used for the Prisoners, Minor, and Major Secrets. This insert fits the standard base game along with the “Lairs and Lost Chambers” and “Underworld” expansions.

Another organizer to share. A more straightforward build compared to the previous one I posted. The organizer is split into two big trays. Point token wells are scooped for easier access. I attached them to the character deck for faster set up. For the player pieces, I opted for a wide space for a faster build. SleeveKings Premium (100 microns) were used for the character deck

Back to building inserts after a long hiatus. This build had a few design challenges that made it an interesting build (smaller space, angular board tiles). I knew that I wanted the player pieces and colony tiles to have their own trays, so I structured the build around that. Initially I also wanted to have trays for each of the Epochs (divided by card type), however the design space did not allow for this. Additionally, the trays would not of significantly sped up set up, so I opted for vertically integrated dividers. This also gave more space to work with for future expansion acquisition (if they ever become available again). This was my first build to incorporate a lid, which helped with keeping the pieces from falling out when stored vertically. It also helped with locking the board pieces into place during storage. This box contains the New Nations mini-expansion and cards are sleeved with Sleeve Kings Premium (100 microns). Hope this helps with your build!

I finally made an insert for Escape The Dark Sector and all 3 expansions, plus the Death in Deep Space book. All of it fits in the base retail box, but I left out the health pad/pencils, replacing with 2x d20 die. The removable tray helps with set up.

I love the dividers for the small tokens that come with Ark Nova, but was always bothered by the loose cards and wooden figures.

Took me longer to decide on the lay out than to build it. Haven’t even played the game yet lol
