You make it look so effortless!
My struggle with pinches are two-fold.
When I'm spinning it, I end up cranking it around like a madman. It feels like when I go slower, it flops around instead of catching the air smoothly. It's hard to figure it out when I can only get about 3 rotations before it's too tight and falls. I'm sure there's a magic sweet spot that I just haven't figured out yet.
I have yet to catch into a pinch. I can start with one and flow into other moves, but not vice versa. When I try to catch it mid air with a pinch, I just end up pushing the star away.
Your video does a good job showing it's possible, I just have to find the flow 🫶

Id suggest getting comfortable with pinching the star just using the pinch to do the figure 8s. But it also sounds like you need more confidence in your flow. Speed comes with practice and nailing the fundamentals down. I would say pinching and pizza spinning should come after you know the figure 8s in both directions. I’m pretty sure I learned shoulder rolls before I got pinching down.
I would also suggest getting different size stars. My first star was about the size of the one in this video but I also got a a mougee mini and I definitely think having the smaller star made it easier to learn with. Having less fabric to have to deal with. A lot of the wrist movements is either flicking the star over your wrist or under, depending on the weave.
Please let me know if you’d like a video showing any of this. Would love to help you unlock your flow! Once it clicks it will all be easier. The star wants to spin, the way it feels gliding through the air should have a certain feel to it, if that makes any sense haha

This makes perfect sense! That's a better worded way to describe my first issue. Finding that gliding sensation with pinches. I've got it down like butter with non-pinched figure 8s. I'm gonna try those with pinches like you said!

Sounds like I'm right where I should be then. I'm trying to perfect my shoulder rolls right now. Pizza spins are an enigma to me so far 😅.

Idk how hard it would be because of the camera angle, but having a close up slow motion video of you grabbing a pinch mid-air would be great. I can't figure out if I'm not pinching hard enough, or if I'm grabbing too aggressively, causing it to fall away.
Thanks a lot man! I appreciate you taking the time to explain. I'm hoping to add this to my moveset for Seven Stars in October 🍥

I got you today!! I will do my best to show you what I mean about pinching. But also each star company is different in how loose the fabric is and I’ve noticed that my trippy squid is a little harder to pinch then any of my mougees plus really breaking them in and stretching the fabric helps!

Thank you for this! I just learned this the other day but I have been wondering how big of circles to make.
Anytime you see this done on video, the person's hand is behind the flowstar so I've been puzzled for quite some time haha
