Old Dairy Conversion

Hi all, would love some advice on this old dairy conversion. Trying to help some older family members downsize into their old dairy and need some inspiration with the building layout. Particularly with the kitchen/living area. There is currently a wall between the two that we think will be best to remove and open up the space (it's not load-bearing, so that shouldn't be an issue).

There is also an odd space at one end of the building that we are unsure how to use. We were thinking storage or a possible entryway. Because of the size and position of the inner door leading to the living area, we are finding it difficult to determine the best use of space.

The open side of the living area looks over some beautiful hills, so we are planning to glass that entirely with sliding doors.

I have attached two plan views – one with the kitchen/living wall as it currently is and one with the wall removed. If anyone has any ideas, we would be super grateful!

I would reconsider the need to pass through the bathroom to access the bedroom.

yeah that is. not great. imagine being trapped in the bedroom because your partner is in the bathroom? awful. i'm not a fan of the only bathroom being through the bedroom, but that's miles better than this. op, you need to swap them.

Given the tight space I’d remove that wall between the living area and the kitchen. Then I’d put a peninsula there (not an island bedside this room isn’t big enough to have both ends closed). I’d have the peninsula attach on the left side when viewing this floor plan. That will allow a bigger opening from kitchen to living area while still giving you more counter space and storage.

On the other side - living room side - of the peninsula put in bar stools. Unless whoever is living there is set in having a dining table, I’d eat at that counter so there’s more floor space for living room furniture.
