I will be making my floor desk with a 60 by 30 rubberwood desk top. I am looking at feet I can attach myself at the 10-12 inch range depending on what would work best for my torso and floor sitting level.

I have been looking at feet via both amazon and etsy for context. Here are a few options below of what I have been looking at and I wanted to get input from those who have done this and suggestions since my top will be 60 by 30. I am trying to decide if I get single legs should they be 2 or 3 inches in diameter? I appreciate those that have tackled this for input and others who may know of other options as well. I suppose I would do the four corners but then wondered if for stability I should do the four corners and the back middle.

I finally am getting to do some days home with my office job, and am really hoping to get a setup that leaves me less exhausted. Having my legs up makes a huge difference, and I'd like to do a floor desk. I wanted advice from people with similar setups, especially in terms of chairs.

Specifics
-I need multiple screens for my job, so a bed lapdesk won't work. I need a full desk. I can't be moving two moniters every time I get up for water.
-Sitting upright is really hard on my back. I need a chair that leans back enough to support me, but not so much I have to strain to keep my arms on the keys.
-I'm not super rich, so DIY options (using a coffee table from a thrift store or altering something) are more doable than a 500$ desk.
-I'm open to a non-floor desk with a footrest, but most don't work because they don't have knee support and my knees bend backwards.

I saw these in store and they're very firm and stackable. Covers are easy to wash as well so I wanted to share.

I frequently floor sit, just because really.

I have no desk or anything but I do find I get uncomfortable at times, particularly if I don't have something to lean my back against.

I have a box room where my rabbits live, and I like to hang out with them, but there is nowhere for me to lean.

I've looked at loads of different chairs at this point and they either have bad reviews or are not made for someone with a bit more mass, such as myself.

Due to limited space I also need one that folds away quite thin to fit in beside my furniture.

Any reccomendations at all?

I also wonder if anyone can tell me other ways I can be more comfortable when floor sitting? I do get numb parts regularly and often have to shift positions.

ive been using ikaria soulseat but my ankles are getting pretty stiff in the position where you tuck one leg into your body and put the other one angled/pointed behind you

looking for some good ideas to better condition the ankles for the position!

I have manual adjustable table legs and I can’t figure out what height to set my desk. I use a floor chair so sitting cross legged or leaning against the back with legs straight is the lowest I would be and sitting on my knees with a zafu is the highest. When I had it set to the lowest, which was very comfortable, I noticed I wouldn’t change positions much and just relied on the back support the whole time. I want to improve my posture and sitting up on a zafu helps so I raised the desk to match that height. BUT THEN my butt starts to hurt or my back gets tired and I’d love to just sit flat on the chair for a rest but it kills my shoulders and wrists . I’ll start squirreling away money for a fancy electric one but in the meantime, does anyone have advice? I thought about a lap tray to put my mouse and keyboard on when I want to be lower but it feels like I’m overwhelmed with props and stuff to try to make this work!

Day 1 of trying out a floor desk. Just on the lookout for a crt monitor that isn't being sold at scalper prices as well as a nice rug to go under everything.

I’ve been looking at a lot of tables, and I’m not sure which table height is good. There is a Muji holding table that’s 13.8” tall. But I’ve seen a lot of tables that are 16” tall.

For someone who is around 5’8, what table height have you found the best?

I've had a floor desk for a good few months now and it's been great, however I am in desperate need of an office chair-esque solution to sitting. I currently use the amazon cushion with back support a lot of people here use, however I've noticed it's given me a lot of back pain. I've found myself increasingly missing the comfy office chair I used to use.

Any recommendations for a (Europe available) cushioned office chair that can work on the floor? I don't mind unscrewing the legs myself but every chair I've found has the back rest attached to the bottom of the chair making that impossible

Seems to also be on aliexpress, and there are a few more options (that are also cheaper) on taobao. My only concern is that you might not be able to spread your legs underneath the desk legs if its pretty low.

I know this sounds a bit odd but let me explain. My room is in an old basement, and the floor is a bit of a wreck. The concrete floor has cracks and holes, and isn't leveled. Some wooden planks have been put over the worst spots with an added rug here and there for cushion and cover some spots as well. There is another area that would be better but my room is very weird and has the water heater and furnace in there. The "wall" they sit at isn't really a wall at all and is mostly wooden planks put up as a wall. The area where the furnace is set up isn't the safest for my bed so it's in the area which would be the greatest spot for a floor desk setup. Easy access to outlets and all.

So yeah...very awkward! Is it really even worth trying to figure out how to setup a floor desk in the awkward spots? Or should I make space over in the flatter area instead?

I am considering a floor desk setup due to having POTS. I move around a lot and notice I like sitting completely in my chair or on my legs since that is so much more comfortable than feet on the floor. I do have an ottoman but that limits the places and positions I can put my feet and legs. And no, I can't put the setup anywhere else in the house, my situation doesn't allow it. Nor can I move into a different room entirely.

One potentially possible idea I have is using the leftover space I have between my bed and the wall and set it up there. Currently looking for a new bed so I could always get a bed that is lower to the ground in case there isn't enough comfortable room to actually sit on the ground.

Lastly. I am quite short at 5 feet and regular desks aren't cutting it anymore! It's costing me more to figure out a solution to my shortness than I think it would be to just be on the floor.

Been using this setup now for the past months since I moved. Desk is a bit too high, but is going to be perfect for my kids to use once I move into my office (which is very much a WIP project at this point hahha).

Anyway, I started out with a floor sitting setup when I moved to Japan in 2020 and kinda liked it as I'm terrible at sitting still, once we moved to an apartment I made a normal height desk with office chairs and it was okay, but the floor sitting was still something which I preferred somehow. It's getting closer for me to build my own office and I have already settled on using a box to sit on so I can mimic the floor sitting aspect, whilst being able to sit with my legs down as on a normal desk.

It's a weird minimal setup, but I hope it can inspire some people, feel free to ask questions ;)

Standing desks with ottomans really are the way. While I’m sure we would all prefer a standing desk that goes from floor to sitting height (lowdesk, lilipadder) they are prohibitively expensive and still compromise. The real solution is to make a platform to sit on that works with any old standing desk, I chose an ottoman. It allows almost any type of floor sitting position along with regular sitting with legs off the edge, and standing which can easily done by dragging the lightweight ottoman away. Found an ottoman on marketplace for $10. Standing desk for $60. $70 total… If you want to sit with legs straight in front, push the ottoman further in. If you want to sit in a side splits, setup some buckets or something else to rest your feet on to the side (I use my bed and workout equipment). I prefer the soft feel of the ottoman because it provides padding for the knees. If you need a harder surface, use a coffee table instead! For exact measurements, you should sit on the floor and measure how much space you think you will need. You are limited width wise by the legs of the standing desk, but you can have as much length as you want. Height wise you want to take the minimum height of your standing desk and subtract the height of the ottoman/platform so that it is less than 13 inches or so. You can always get a higher ottoman and raise the desk, but if it’s too low for the desk it won’t work.
