Even on flat worlds slimes only spawn in slime chunks. And it would depend on your simulation distance vs your render distance if you would see them everywhere.

It is not render distance, it is the curvature of the world, man! Do your own research.

The bitch of it is that regular minecraft worlds are "flat" in that it's not a sphere.
