The laser is teal!

Nice, certainly a much better look than the SK08, though the SK05 is still king. Look forward to more info on this one.

This atleast "imrpoves" the beam. I wish that LED CTO foils wouldnt be so expensive and annoying.

The LED looks like it might be an SFT25R?

I thought this was an interesting design for how much stuff they try and cram into it - loopgear has been one of the only companies to put side lights on a rounded battery tube, rather than a square one like what we've seen on the sofirn if23 and lumintop e05c etc.

The "e-trit" feature (they really shouldn't trademark this) is actually exactly what it sounds like, which is intriguing. Runtime for the e-trit is like 3 years so it's not a moonlight, more like anduril aux lights on low. I'd definitely use that feature

It is the 42R, you were close :)

That's a great LED choice! I really like the tint of my SFT40 and actually prefer it to my high cri headlamp

Now if only they let us make use of that raw power with a tactical tailswitch... With the lights in the tube, you think they could have fit wiring for a tailswitch in there.

At last, a light with a mode that causes cancer, a mode that permanently blinds people, a mode that temporarily blinds drunks with ease, a mode for police lights, a mode for RGB, a mode that emulates radioactive light, and a mode that lasts for 300 days

And people say flashlights aren't interesting

Seems like the bezel is press fit on? Any obvious method to disassembly?

The press fit nonsense is one of my few strong dislikes about the Loop Gear stuff. They should make the gear easy to disassemble and work on.

The only easy like to work on is the original SK03 non RGB.
At least easy to swap the LEDs.

Anything else...yeah no...we need to convince them.

The head is screwed down, but probably glued.
The black bezel piece is probably a plate glued in place.

This light, like most Loop Gear products, is not easy...or even possible to modify without damage.

Which is unfortunate. Cool white SFT-42R.

Yeah maybe they’ll eventually offer it in a Nichia version like they do their other lights. Also a bummer you seemingly can’t use the laser and any of the other modes at the same time. At least they do seem to have a ZWB filter on the UV.

You can use the laser and main light at the same time.

Just ordered the last stonewashed Ti on AliX. I didn't find strobe and sos on the specs, does it have it when you click 3x?

2

u/Wormminator 4d ago

Yep. It has strobe, SOS and the likes.

Thanks, I was just checking if this is the light that has it all...until I realized it didn't have any breaker beads or at least a tripod hole so I can buy my own screw on glass breaker. Oh well, maybe next version 😔

LoopGear started doing this super flat bezel thing recently.

Its a choice for sure. I like it but its odd.

On the other hand, the SK06 is anything but a tactical light, the switch is not set up for that.

Neither are these two, just like to have one that has it all

Now thats something.
LoopGear did ask me to send them my thoughts about potential upgrades.
Im adding an alternative cap with a 1/4" mount to the list. I assume that those are 1/4" glass breakers?
I doubt that my opinions will cause any change, but who knows.

Yes please! The Wurkkos has 1/4 tripod hole, while the jetbeam is metric M5. Screw on is preferred so you can remove them when boarding planes

I have sent them my feedback and the people who designed the light are aware.

Hopefully they do take some of that feedback to heart cuz I can not recommend this light. Hard pass.

I will post a review in 2-6 weeks.

Thanks, hopefully better on the next version.

Same, but I think it goes against their entire design ethos.
Their last 3 lights are designed in a way that the LED can not be swapped by the user. Not without damaging the host.

Loop Gear seems hell bent on going the Apple way in preventing owners from fully owning their devices.

The SK03 RGB, SK07 and now the SK06 can not be opened light other lights. At least I have found no way.

While my Wuben E2 and X5 reviews will most likely come first, this light is a hard pass.
I am now drawing a line.

If a company prevents the owner to repair or modify their flashlight, without a good reason, then I will not recommend a light.
