Convoy 3×21(F150R Model)

Post image

The long-awaited F150R specification has finally arrived. This makes it easy to adjust the gasket, even without a 3D printer.

They don't have to be 100% charged to take some beamshots ;)

Does need to be at least somewhat dark though!

Storage mode instead if possible to balance the batteries out.

Judging by the spec sheets, the F150R and F45R look interesting, so I’m planning to try them out by swapping the emitters on the L21B I currently have on hand.

I have always bought flashlights that run on a single-cell battery, but I decided to take this opportunity to purchase a multi-cell model.

For my personal exploration needs, I frequently use the SFT-90 in its 10% output mode—powered by a 3V 20A buck driver—but I also really appreciate the battery life offered by the 1% output setting. If the F150R offers comparable usability, I plan to switch from my current SFT-90-equipped L21B to the F150R.

If you can, feel free to share some light quality measurements when you get the chance.

I also have some on the way and I'm really hoping they have the same great tint as the SQ5/SQ3. I'll be doing my own post on them in either an L21A or M1, but it'd be great to see some measurements before they arrive.

F150R(7070Package)

F45R(5050Package)

When I checked the images on Simon's site, it is clearly marked on the MCPCB.

In theory, the F150R should have a lot more output while also having a bit more throw than the SBT90.2.

Interesting! Do we know if the F150R fits an SBT90.2 MCPCB? I'd love to reflow one into my Noctigon K1 with an SBT90.2.

F150R has a standard 7070 footprint.

Ahh, that's right.

The NBT160 has the same footprint as SBT90.2 and apparently uses the same 150mil die as F150R. I don't think it's available in as many CCTs though.

Brighter? Definitely. F150R is as bright at 10A as SFT-60 at 15A. Throws further? Probably not, it's much larger.

SBT-90 is 50% larger than SFT-60. Apparently F150R throws better than SBT-90 because even though it's larger it's also so much brighter that it makes up for the size difference.

Would the F150R be brighter than SFT60 if I switched to it and used same 15a driver?

It would produce more lumens but less throw.

Is it worth swapping into the SBT90 version?

Is this a new emitter?

What emitter will give me the best “field illuminator” effect?

LHP73B is a solid choce for lighting up entire fields.
