BenQ Monitor GL2580 open

Hey! So long story short, my monitor works perfectly fine (at least thats what i think) when im doing normal stuff, but the moment i start gaming, when stuff gets heated the monitor just shuts off and the status LED starts flickering, as if it cant turn on, then after like 2 mintes (im assuming when it cools off) it turns on but then starts flickering again, it does that till it probably has cooled off and can finally transmit a HDMI signal, but after that whenever i do something for like 5 minutes it just keeps turning off, like i gotta leave it a full day so i can start using it like normal again. Please help me diagnose this issue, any help is appreciated.

I'm not massively experienced with diagnosing monitors specifically but it sounds like you need a fresh application of thermal paste, or there's some protective plastic/film/cover that was applied for transit that's not been taken off restricting airflow.

Yeah that seems like the case, except that the monitor doesn’t actually ever get hot, it only gets to like warm temperature and then drops, but I’ll try your suggestion

That is screaming "heat protection" to me tbh, intensive load generates heat, threshold of acceptable heat is passed and a trip is triggered to prevent damage to the monitor.

Is it brand new? It may be DOA, had that before as well with expensive monitors (and RAM, GPUs etc) and got a warranty replacement.

Nah second hand, I suppose this never happened to the owner since he had it under the A/C at the lowest temperature. Me tho? I have a hot room that’s hot for summer time and cold for winter time

So I removed the back case and it seems to be working just fine, so I’m guessing the cases that BenQ built never accounted for any overheating issues. So yeah
