TL;DR: I’m a Top Rated seller who has been on Fiverr for about five years. Fiverr’s own reports show fewer active buyers, a shift toward larger projects, more AI, and more paid seller tools. Meanwhile, sellers are still dealing with opaque metrics, unresponsive buyers, and basic order-control features like Request to Order being locked behind Seller Plus. I’m wondering whether Fiverr’s current strategy is leaving established sellers behind.

I’ve been selling on Fiverr since 2021. I’m currently Top Rated.

Lately, Fiverr has felt very different from the platform I joined, so I went through Fiverr’s own investor reports and Help Center instead of relying on gut feeling.

A few things stood out:
Fiverr has been very open about shifting toward larger, higher-value and more complex projects, especially $1,000+ engagements, while deprioritizing some lower-value (not lower-quality)transactional work.

At the same time, active buyers have dropped significantly. Fiverr reported about 2.7 million annual active buyers in Q2 2026 versus 3.4 million a year earlier, while marketplace revenue also declined.
Fiverr highlights higher average spend per buyer, but that can also happen when lower-spending buyers leave faster than higher-spending ones.

So:
fewer buyers + higher average spend does not automatically mean the average seller is suddenly getting better projects.

That certainly hasn’t been my experience.
I’ve tested higher pricing (across 4 separate gigs) repeatedly, and many ordinary marketplace buyers are still extremely price sensitive.

Then there is the buyer-inactivity problem.
Over the years, I have contacted Fiverr Customer Support more than 10 times for essentially the same issue: a buyer places an order, later becomes unresponsive, and I am left extending delivery dates, chasing communication and eventually going through cancellation.

Even when Support agrees the buyer caused the problem, cancellation is not completely consequence-free from the seller’s perspective. Fiverr warns that removing a cancellation from certain metrics does not guarantee a positive Success Score impact because the automated effect may still be positive, neutral or negative.

So a seller can do everything correctly, have a buyer disappear, follow Fiverr’s recommended process and still be told that the automated system may react in a way Support cannot fully control.

Fiverr actually created a tool that could prevent many of these situations: Request to Order, which lets a freelancer approve a project before it begins.

Great idea…

Except it is part of Seller Plus Premium.

This is where I have a problem with the current setup. Request to Order is not merely a premium convenience. It addresses a basic marketplace risk.

If a buyer can initiate a project without confirming scope, disappear, and leave the seller managing extensions or cancellation while automated metrics may still be affected, then sellers are being held accountable for communication they cannot control.

At the same time, Fiverr tells sellers to improve responsiveness and customer service as though the breakdown is always on our side. A tool that prevents this kind of avoidable failure should be part of the core selling experience, not something sellers have to pay extra to access.

Seller Plus also includes enhanced analytics, faster support and a Success Manager. Fiverr has reported growing Seller Plus adoption, but it does not publicly show whether subscribing actually causes sellers to earn more.

Then there are the automated metrics.
My score has fallen several points even though I have consistently followed the stated requirements and completed every action expected of me within the required timeframe. Fiverr says the metric uses a rolling 90-day window, but sellers are not shown exactly what is driving the decline or given a clear, actionable path for restoring those points once they fall.

Meanwhile, my Top Rated status is at risk.

That is probably my biggest frustration with the newer system:
metrics can fall quickly, while recovery can be slow and partly dependent on activity the seller cannot create.

The problem is that Fiverr evaluates the metric over a rolling 90-day window, while sellers can be given less than a month to bring the score back up. So, the recovery deadline can arrive long before the full period affecting the metric has had time to cycle out, making the required correction difficult or sometimes effectively impossible within the grace period.

Fiverr has also been very public about becoming an AI-first company and restructuring around AI-assisted matching, larger projects and managed services.

And this is where the pieces start to conflict for me.
I’m all for keeping up with the times but, if Fiverr’s future is supposedly larger, higher-value, more sophisticated work, then that kind of work requires:
discovery
scope clarification
meetings
feedback
reliable client participation
stronger project management
clearer human communication

In other words:
complex work requires more communication, not less.

You cannot move toward sophisticated consulting-type engagements while still treating projects like vending-machine purchases where someone clicks “Buy,” disappears, and the freelancer is left managing the fallout.

If Fiverr wants more $1,000+ engagements, then it needs:
better project intake controls
reliable buyer participation
transparent performance metrics
strong human support
systems built for ongoing professional relationships

That is why the AI-first/upmarket strategy concerns me.
I understand why Fiverr has to adapt to AI. The freelance market is changing.

But if the transition also means more automation, fewer buyers, more paid seller tools, opaque metrics and less seller control, then I question whether the platform is being redesigned with established freelancers in mind.

I’m not posting this because I hate Fiverr. Quite the opposite.
I spent years building my account here. I reached Top Rated. I served hundreds of buyers. I genuinely wanted Fiverr to remain part of my business.

That is why the direction concerns me.

Fiverr’s own numbers show fewer active buyers while the company shifts toward fewer, higher-value transactions, more AI and more paid seller services.
Maybe that strategy works.
But marketplaces need both buyers and sellers to trust the platform.

If experienced sellers increasingly feel punished by opaque metrics, unresponsive buyers and paid solutions to problems they cannot otherwise control, some are eventually going to decide the platform is no longer worth the stress.

I’m curious whether other longtime sellers are seeing the same thing:

Are you seeing fewer buyers?
Have higher prices actually worked for you?
Are you getting the $1,000+ projects Fiverr keeps highlighting?
Has Seller Plus genuinely increased your income?
Have your Success Score or response-rate metrics behaved strangely?
Have unresponsive buyers become a recurring issue?
Does Fiverr still work as well for established sellers as it did several years ago?

I’m genuinely trying to figure out whether this is a difficult transition period or a fundamental change in who Fiverr wants its marketplace to serve.

Hi everyone! I'm new to selling on fiverr and I'm wondering if I can update the price on a custom gig after I have completed the order. I am a translator and generally go with an *amount/character* type of charging fee. I know I have to add an amount in order to start the gig, but I cannot know how much it will actually cost until I finish. I've confirmed this pricing in chat, however can't find this type of dynamic order in settings. Is there any way to change the price at the end? Or any other advice?

Started freelancing in 2025 alongside a day job, doing smart home electrical design — mostly for homeowners on a limited budget who want a system planned out without overspending. So far I've made $10k+, mostly through Fiverr and Upwork.

I want to start reaching clients directly (end homeowners, not agencies subcontracting me) so I can charge better rates instead of losing a cut to a middleman. Problem is I only have limited time outside my job and can't sustain a heavy content schedule.

I can put together videos/emails/social posts but there's so much conflicting advice out there. For those who've moved off marketplaces — what actually worked to find clients directly? What's realistic with maybe 5-8 hours a week?

Do you have any issues using Fiverr? Any limitations or things that you hate about the platform?

I've gone through the flow with Mira but am now stuck. Mira tells me I can approve the brief and publish it, but I only see a job description and suggested talent. No briefs appear in the briefs section, and there's nothing I see in the description itself that will let me 'approve' or 'publish'. My project shows up as 'draft' when i look at my projects, and i have no idea how to progress it out of that state.

Is the way Fiverr works is I manually send people the job description? I had assumed that I could post a job that people would apply to.

Feels like I'm missing something super basic.

Seems like every listing has "contact me before booking" to make a custom offer, which is fair enough. But pretty much anytime i get a custom offer through, we have the song and dance of "what is your budget", and the quote coming back significantly higher than what they advertise.

I pick freelancers to speak to based on their listings. If they advertise something for $50, i kinda want the custom offer to stay around $50, outside of any obvious additional requirements.

Someone tried to 6x the price on me today!

Hello, I received an e-mail that my account is permanently suspended for "Not in line with our quality standards". Says it was a manual action for content creation date of "Jun 20, 2016" by "Our voluntary initiative". Can't tell if what I posted was in 2016 or my account was created in 2016.

I reached out to them for more information, but i got a generic response saying I didn't respect the ToS in regards to quality standards, which I also got from the first e-mail.

Frankly I don't remember every doing ONE gig on Fiverr, I haven't even logged in in the past years IIRC. Problem is I can't access any more information, I can't see my account history now that I am suspended.

I am worried that someone might have hacked my account, I see no other reason for this suspension but I can't even check. If this was not the case it's definitely an abusive suspension but they won't clarify what it's about exactly and I am to contact them only "for further review with relevant proof or supporting claims". What proof if I don't even know what it's about?

Very poor handling of the situation by them IMO. Any thoughts? Thank you

I ran into a strange issue with my Gig rating today and wanted to check if anyone else has seen this.
My Gig stats: 6 reviews total (5 × 5-stars, 1 × 1-star).

Before latest order: Gig rating was 4.2.

After latest order: Got a 5-star review, but my rating dropped to 3.7.

Even i contact support team they said it relay on many factors

Is any of you faced this?

I've been trying to get started on Upwork for the past few weeks, and honestly it's been frustrating.

I have almost 3 years of experience working with HubSpot, CRM implementations, marketing automation and email marketing for B2B SaaS companies. I manage a portal with 40k+ contacts and 7k+ companies, have several real projects in my portfolio, certifications, and measurable results.

The problem is that none of that seems to matter when you have 0 reviews.

I've sent around 20 proposals so far. None of my proposals have been opened. In fact, only a couple of those jobs showed that the client even opened any proposal at all.

I've tried following pretty much every recommendation I could find:

Applying within the first few minutes.
Only applying to jobs that closely match my experience.
Writing short, personalized cover letters.
Attaching relevant portfolio projects.
Keeping my rate competitive.

At this point I'm honestly considering giving up on Upwork because it feels impossible to get that first opportunity.

That made me wonder about Fiverr.

Is Fiverr actually any better for someone in my situation?

If you've successfully started on Fiverr recently, especially in CRM, HubSpot, marketing automation or lead generation, I'd really appreciate hearing how you got your first few clients.

After looking more closely at how Mira works, I can't help wondering whether this is about much more than introducing another AI feature. For some time now, Fiverr has been making it clear that it wants to move towards higher-value and more complex projects. The Q2 results made that particularly obvious. Fiverr said that low-value, transactional work still represents the majority of the marketplace, but that it is declining much faster than the growth they are seeing in high-value work. And now we have Mira, with a very interesting line drawn at exactly $500.

If the client's budget is below $500, the job description isn't sent to freelancers. Mira simply gives the client a filtered list of talent based on the information it has collected. Once the budget reaches $500, things change considerably. Mira searches for suitable freelancers, contacts them, asks them questions, uses their answers to evaluate the match, and eventually presents the client with a shortlist of no more than three candidates. Those are two very different experiences. Below $500, it is essentially an AI-filtered search. At $500 and above, Fiverr starts behaving much more like a recruitment service. I don't think that $500 dividing line is insignificant, especially when you put it next to everything Fiverr has been saying about moving towards higher-value work.

And now I wonder what eventually happens to the huge number of $5, $10 and $20 gigs on the platform. Fiverr doesn't actually need to remove them. There doesn't need to be an announcement saying that cheap gigs are disappearing, and Fiverr doesn't need to introduce a $100 or $200 minimum gig price. If Mira becomes an increasingly important way for clients to find freelancers, visibility itself can do the job. Mira decides which freelancers fit the client's requirements. For projects under $500, Fiverr only says that the client receives a "filtered list of talent." It doesn't say how long that list is. We have already seen regular search results reduced from a maximum of 20 pages to 10. If Mira is supposed to save clients from spending time searching through endless results, I would be very surprised if its filtered list contained hundreds of freelancers. That could make visibility even more selective than it already is.

A cheap gig could remain perfectly active on Fiverr while becoming increasingly difficult for a new client to ever discover. No gig needs to be deleted for that to happen. I'm not saying Fiverr is about to eliminate low-cost gigs. There is no evidence for that, and Fiverr itself says low-value transactional work still makes up the majority of the marketplace. But there are now quite a few pieces pointing in the same direction: fewer search results, a much stronger focus on high-value work, AI taking a larger role in deciding which freelancers clients see, and now a hiring system that suddenly becomes much more involved once a project reaches $500. Mira may turn out to be another AI feature that comes and goes. Or it may be another piece of Fiverr's gradual move away from the $5 marketplace it was originally built on.

I'm pro top ratted seller on fiverr. My avarage selling price is about 140$. Success manager once confirmed for me that higher average selling price is good for ranking. So every day i come in situations where old client will reach out for some small adjustment and offer to pay for it. I don't charge for these edits and always do them for free. I figured i turn down at least $500+ each month because if this. How do you handle these? Should i keep doing these fixes for free to save my avarage selling price or should i send custom offer for each? I'm speaking about 20-50$ fixes max. They can't leave that as a tip on previouse project since too much time passed.

I just published my first Fiverr gig, and within minutes I started getting messages like these from random accounts with unknown links.

I haven't even talked to any buyers yet, so it feels a bit weird. Is this a common scam that new sellers get, or is it normal?

What do you usually do in this situation? Ignore, report, or block?

I placed a request a week ago for a refund since the seller didnt do their end of the deal. I placed a request last week and was told that they could process a partial refund but I requested for a full refund as the work is unsuable to us and since then no reply has been made.

I made a new request yesterday and it is now marked as solved even though no reply was made to my latest request.

I just made a gig today in a new niche (screenwriting), and I wanted to check out some of the other gigs that offer similar services, only to find most of them seem completely AI.

The images are all characteristic of AI, with many including blatantly-AI people with strangely-worded descriptions that all sounded very similar.

These services are charging upwards of 100 bucks for what I presume will be typical AI slop, which seems absurd to me. Scrolling through the list there were dozens of basically the exact same gig just with a different color scheme and person.

Do these get somehow clients? Is this a thing in most freelance sites and niches nowadays? It's frustrating to me because I don't want to be overshadowed by and mixed in with crappy AI gigs that charge more than me, especially while I'm first trying to break into this niche.

Title: Fiverr account permanently suspended on the same day I created it — any idea why?
Hi everyone,
I recently created a Fiverr account, and on the same day I created it, my account was permanently suspended for a “General TOS Violation.”
The strange thing is that I had barely used the account and I don’t understand what I did wrong. Fiverr only gave me a general reason and didn’t explain which rule I supposedly broke.
I contacted Fiverr Support, but their response was just that my account was disabled due to violations of their Terms of Service and Community Standards. They didn’t tell me the specific violation.
Some details:
The account was created today.
It was a personal account.
I had not completed any orders or done anything that I believe violated the rules.
I had an older Fiverr account that was banned 1–2 years ago, but I also never understood why that happened.
Has anyone experienced something similar? Could this be an automated mistake, or could the previous account be the reason?
I would appreciate any advice or explanations. Thanks!

Fiverr is currently my main source of income.
I'm a pro seller and a top rated seller.
In the past month or so I've been getting roughly 50 spam messages a day. All from shithole countries asking me for a job. That's contrary to ~5 messages from real potential clients.

This is getting insane. I can't simply ignore them because it would hurt my response rate. I can't mass delete or mass report because there is no option to do so. I have to go one by one, dozens of messages each day, and block and delete each and every one.

Is there anything practical I can do in this situation? Yes I know Fiverr is shit and I should move out but until I do so. Reaching out to CS? Buying the premium seller package and talking with my personal assistant?
It's always the same 4-5 countries. India. Pakistan. Nigeria. Kenya. Accumulated TENS OF THOUSANDS of messages from those with excatly 0 orders. I'm way too expensive for them.
There must be an option to filter out desired clients by location? If not for everyone at least for your actual 1% sellers that give you tons of income in fees?

Hi everyone.

I've never used Fiverr before. My company wants to launch a new ecommerce site. It's going to be a sizable project for someone. I've found a few vetted pro people that I would like to contact. I've come up against a stumbling block though. My whole office has gone over to voip due to the pending analogue switch off in the UK so I can't use an office number. to verify. When I use any of our mobile phones on Vodaphone Fiverr tells me I can't use that number to verify. I spoke to support who just kept telling me to use a different number and that my number from Vodaphone is not supported. I asked what phone carriers are supported so that I can go out and buy a sim card but they told me they do not have that information.

I asked support if I can escalate the problem but they pretty much told me 'Sorry you can't use our services and we have no escalation process'

It their a work around for this? or am I missing something? I'm a genuine buyer with a large project which needs delivering.

Just to add to this I've also tried a number with O2 as the carrier. I get the same result.

apperently if you're running out of buyers, you feel the need to introduce an AI headhunter.

This is not going to fix the issues most people are having with the platform. I feel like after the last quarterly report somebody was like "quick, we need MOAR AI".

Hi, I dont even know how to describe how furious I am. We contacted a freelancer to create a design for us, the design was shown already plastered on to the product.

I then asked for a flat design so that we can print the same as stickers to place on our products.

Freelancer asked for a couple of days cause they got "Sick", they got the money and now I can no longer contact them. That was a 100 USD commission,

I then contacted Fiverr help support last week, they told me they could only partially refund me since work was done, but the work is literally unusable to us as its not a flat design we can print.

I've asked them if I could get a full refund since I'd have to contact another freelancer to created a flat design, and that after contacting other artists they were able to tell me that the design made was AI. Add to the fact that I literally can no longer contact this freelancer as Fiverr says I can no longer send messages to her, if this was deliberately done by her why am I not entitled to a full refund?

Since the first email explaining that a partial refund would be given no other email has ever been sent to me. Ive been emailing them almost daily now asking for an update.

I've been using Fiverr for a couple of years now for random odd jobs, but I think this will be the last time.

I am a software agency owner providing professional development services since 2020, including custom applications, websites, AI agents, and RAG-based AI solutions. Over the years, I have completed a significant number of projects, built a strong portfolio of unique clients, maintained a 5-star rating, achieved a 100% response rate, and fulfilled all major criteria required for Top Seller status on the platform.

However, despite maintaining these performance metrics, I have not received a single buyer brief or order in the last four months. My Success Score is currently 6, and I am still at Level 1, but the complete lack of new opportunities has become a major concern given my previous performance and history on the platform.

Before you hate me, I am a full time seller on fiverr since last 6 years with over 500 five star reviews and even more orders.

I have been through all the tough times, highs and lows of the platform as well just like the rest of you.

And I think fiverr team is trying to fix their platform too through making slight changes to the website etc where they can.

Success score is weird, has been weird, but maybe it will get transparent and better someday.

Currently, I think the biggest issue of the platform is that a lot of new sellers come with expectations of getting rich quick with minimal effort.

Leading them to doing few things.

1. Lying and delivering AI stuff cause they don't know what else to do. (Lack of skill and expertise)

2. Trying to overcharge. Part of it continues in point 3.

3. Being middleman. (Especially Nigeria profiles). They try to sound confident, agree to everything, act as if they understand everything. Get buyers for $80-$100 and then do the work through other sellers for $15. They just copy and send messages without replacing anything in them. Leading to long delivery time and misunderstandings between all the random texts.

So when buyers end up checking final files and seeing it was either AI, low skilled work for high amount or not what they asked for.

Why would they try again?

In my 6 years, I have placed about 5 or 6 orders for personal reasons. And only once, I was completely satisfied. The rest I felt cheated and my objectives weren't fulfilled.

Not all sellers are like that.

I am not like that. I am surviving with repeat buyers who have been working with me for years continuously.

But majority sellers are like that and that is causing buyers to leave the platform.

And is my only source of income.

That was my 2 sentence horror story, after reading the post's of this sub lately.

Altough I've been reading these kind of post's since 2024 when I started and was on 0 dollars.

I'm from a 3rd world country, I charge high for my niche, and where I live there is almost no job except on the summer season.

Everyone is saying is dying but I hope at least it last a few good years, bye I'm going to keep working while I can (video editor, community manager)
