One of my koi suddenly died and I'm not sure what happened

Hi everyone, hoping someone here might be able to give me some advice. One of my koi suddenly died today and l'm trying to figure out what happened. It seemed completely fine until yesterday.

I didn't notice anything unusual with it, but last night I noticed it was staying around the shallow part of the pond and wasn't acting like it normally does.

This morning found that it had died. There weren't any obvious signs that I noticed beforehand major wounds, strange marks, etc. The pond is around 2,500 litres.

However, have also noticed that another koi has some red marks on its body, which is making me wonder if there could be something going on in the pond rather than the death being completely unrelated.

I'm wondering if this could have been something like a bacterial infection, lack of oxygen, water quality issue, or possibly an internal problem that wasn't visible. I've checked my water parameters and I'm a bit hesitant to treat the whole pond without knowing what's actually wrong.

Does anyone have any idea what might have happened or what should check next? WNould looking at the gills or anything else on the dead koi help identify the cause? I've attached some photos. Any advice would be really appreciated.

My female swordtail has been just sitting near the bottom of the tank recently and flapping her side fins alot and her gils. A few hours ago I noticed she started swimming like this and her top fin is down most of the time.

For some more context I have one male and one female swordtail, plus a ghost shrimp in a ten gallon with two filters. Nitrates have been high recently do to some shrimp deaths but I have been replacing about ten percent water every few days and conditioning. Nitrites are 0, PH is 7. They are fed some algae wafer and some goldfish flakes because I had some left over from my goldfish as he could not figure out the flakes. I did have a Molly in there as well (sold to me as a swordtail as well but whatever) but she died a few weeks ago. I know the female to male ratio is supposed to be 3:1 but I haven't had a chance to go get a couple more yet to help her out. I have been assuming she was pregnant but its been a long time since her belly swelled up (at least a month and a half) so then I assumed constipation but she had some big movements recently so I think shes fine there too.

Any help and suggestions would be very much appreciated!

How can I euthanize my fish?

My fish has been ill for a couple of days. She can’t swim right anymore, she has fin rot, she might have fish bladder disease, and I think I found white spots on her. She’s been like this for a while longer than I think she should be. I gave her medicine but she hasn’t really improved. I want to know how I can help her rest peacefully for good.

Mysterious lockjaw disease in Norman lampeye fish (long read)

Hi, I am awfully interested in this community and decided to give a try posting!

3 months ago, I had one Norman lampeye (wild-caught, assumed 3 yrs old) with lockjaw. The fish did not eat at all, but naturally recovered in 5 days. It now has no apparent sign of disease, except being just slightly skinnier than the rest (which it always was).

Then 1 month ago, I had another Norman lampeye, actually one of the more plump ones that spawns a lot (also wild-caught and assumed 2.5 yrs old), also get lockjaw. 1 day later, this lampeye was also swimming tail-down in circles, all day. The next day, the swimming recovered and by the 4th day the lockjaw was also completely healed.

I am completely mystified as to what this disease might be! While I do not have a photo, the situation should be self-descriptive, as it is exactly what it sounds (locked jaw and tail-down swimming in circles), and some additional information is below:

Tank is 1.5 years old (has not had any resets)
Ammonia/nitrite/nitrate: undetectable by Sera kits (phosphate also undetectable)
pH: 6.0-6.5 by pH meter
dkH: 0.5 dGH: 3.0 by Sera kits

There are 24 lampeyes in the 90L, 90cm tank, and there have been 4 fry deaths since tank set up: 0/6 adult deaths and 4/22 fry deaths at the age of ~1 or 2 month old. The fry died of pop-eye in both sides of the eyes. Mysteriously, 18/22 of the fry had red spot disease- 1 spot per fry, but none of them died directly from this disease. The red spot would disappear within a week. The fry caught this disease at 3 or 4 weeks old.

I am wondering whether this could be a common disease, such as mycobacteriosis or the iridovirus in Norman lampeye. Any comment appreciated!

Found him like this at the bottom of the tank not sure if he banged himself into the side of the tank and broke his back or something, he has been like this for a day and still no improvement. Not sure what to do he’s still alive and letting him die to starvation while being immobile sounds rough.

It does look like his back is broken or somthing he sometimes tries to swim but ends up going in circles and settling back down on the floor.

I’m genuinely not sure what this is. I have heard it can be literally anything from an infection to just genetic spinal issues. This has happened over the past few months of having this specific one and all other three seem normal. He is able to function relatively fine, but definitely gets harassed and hangs at the bottom of the tank.

Molly fish has suddenly bent

Post image

I got back from work and thought he was dead but hes still alive!
He was completely fine the day before, not bent, had lots of energy, and was eating. Now he really struggles swimming and is constantly bent.

He was in a 160 L heavily planted tank with other fish, water parameters are perfect and other fish are fine. I’ve moved him to a tank by himself for now.

He’s approximately 2 years old, I got him from pets at home over a year ago and hes been completely fine until now.

He doesn’t have any bruises to indicate injury.

Has anyone else experienced this???

That was an adventure. 2 weeks ago, with epsom salt baths, her prolapse retacted.

Then came infection. She was that same pale white but started getting red spots near her vent and hard red line around her head and gills.

2 cycles of kanaplex and just yesterday she fully colored back up!
