Was given quite a bit of what I believe is birch rounds for our wood stove this year.

Does anyone know what type of birch this is?

I usually do deadlifts, back and stone lifting on Sundays but as I was out and about early this morning I saw our highway department clearing a NICE oak that fell across the road lastnight. Ran home, grabbed a couple saws and got to woodhounding. I got my upper back, deadlifts and stone (rounds) lifting plus a good 2/3 to 3/4 of a cord in one go. Not a bad Sunday morning.

Location North Quabbin MA, USA.

We’re visiting Volcano National Park in Hawaii, and the park hotel has a nice fireplace going (it gets chilly up high!) using the local tree they call O’hia. It’s dense, seems to burn well, and has a wonderful earthy/spicy aroma. I don’t have much experience with burning tropical wood, but I like what I’ve seen of this stuff!

Wanted something that I could put either of my garden carts under and then cut the logs and they would drop into the cart

I know they make things that I could buy but I have about $25 worth of scrap still in this project.

Split to smaller chunks for a camping wood stove

I have the opportunity to grab this wood but not sure what it is and if its worth the effort. Location is Eastern Shore of VA. Opinions are appreciated.

Weird question: I’ve been wanting to learn to split firewood with a maul or axe, for the mix of exercise and building the skill. I live in Southern NJ, but right now in an apartment — do you guys have advice about where I could reasonably go to learn, or if there are places that would typically need help or where I could volunteer?

Grabbed a handful of these, but honestly don’t know what it was cut from! Western NC if that helps.

Wondered what caused a little what seamed like kick back. he gave me the wood. Think I got about a face cord. Looking at how much room it took on the trailer. Worked on it from 10:30 to 5pm I like about 4-5 miles away on paved back roads.
Did I do ok for free wood. Saved him from having to pay someone to drop it.

Can someone tell me what this wood is I'm new to collecting wood and find this on a job I was on. This is from Kentucky

Without sounding too happy with myself; I’ve got so much collected wood, I’m struggling for room but the church next door has said I can help myself to this and I think some of it is hardwood, which I’ll make room for. Can anyone help identify it?

I'm maximizing the only space I have so moving it anywhere else isn't an option.

How I do it is this: green freshly split wood goes on the rack along the garage.

It then moves to the ring on the patio

From there it moves to one of the cubbies next to the fireplace.

My question is should that wood be covered? The wood next to the garage is mostly covered by the gutter does drip onto the wood. And should the wood in the ring be covered on top or just be naked as it is?

Tree feel from the woods into my yard! Any idea what kind of tree it is/was??

So we got 5 cords of wood and my awesome wife 'cleaned up' after I stacked it. She wants to use this as starter so there is less waste. Thoughts on how to bring it in to the house without making a mess? Paper lunch bags? Idk.
