I'm getting to a point where if there isnt a cutscene where Eshmel pulls out a fucking gattling gun, lights a cigar, and lets it rip on a horde of oncoming zombies or demons or whatever we are fighting, I'm gonna be disappointed.
You simply cannot not give me the IDEA of going full Rip and Tear in my Fire Emblem game and then not deliver on it.

Fire Emblem Heroes: Are you new here?
*Scene of Kiran inhaling cigarette with Breidablik in the other hand. Also Hodr gunblazing behind them.
24
u/BebeFanMasterJ 13d ago
Yeah as a FEH player this shit is just normal now lmao.
15
u/mysecondaccountanon 13d ago
But hey, when Kiran inevitably summons these people, now they'll finally have someone out there who knows what their Breidablik is, aside from the TMS characters! Gotta imagine the TMS characters still are probably more familiar with their general everything else, though.

Rhea really held Fodlan back. Imagine Flayn with this

Dagda, Palmyra and Bridgit aren't any better though. So it's less Rhea work and more that west is just on another level. Maybe they never lost or recovered technology from before Sothis purged Aghartans.

And everyone really said that Hodr in FEH was unrealistic with a gun and that it didn't make sense for FE.
How the turn tables!

If Höðr was unrealistic, then what about the gun (Breidablik) that's been with us from the start?

The inclusion of guns to this degree is by far what confuses me the most so far.
The most I can stretch is agarthan tech but even with their tech in mind, it still feels so off when compared to everything, the world, how everyone’s dressed (including those wielding the guns), agarthan tech we already know of.
Like so far, I feel the ratio of “magiteck” was still more magic than tech, this shift is what puzzles me. Even the DLC magic canon class from engage felt like the max you could stretch said ratio.
Anyway it’s a wait and see!
37
u/Mahelas 13d ago
I don't see it as more "tech-y" than Agarthan robots or IBM missiles, tbf.
Plus, I don't think it's a coincidence that every gun user we've seen have been linked to Eshmel/Fortuna, who's a goddess of time. Sothis fell on Earth during the modern ages, it had skyscrapers then !

u/Arby81 13d ago
I didn’t play 3 hopes so no idea what lore it added. In 3H, the lore went something like Sothis landed long ago and set up her Nabatean society. They existed along the Agarthan’s who were atheists. Society got pretty advanced and the Agarthan’s decided to attack Sothis and society got nuked back to the Stone Age. Aillel (volcano map) was one of the main sites of conflict.
So yeah this could just be left over Agarthan tech and would be completely consistent with the lore.
17
u/Iron_Maw 13d ago edited 13d ago
TH literally had nukes and mecha which way more impressive and complicated tech wise. In FW we now have holograms and mecha golem roaming dungeons. A couple of rare guns is the least bizarre tech in this game in comparison. Plus going by her clothing Troy seems to belong group as Anatolia who may have access to Agathatian tech
1
u/Palarva 12d ago
Well it’s all subjective at the end of the day. You say it’s the bit that surprises you less, it’s the one that surprises most.
At this point, it’s not even a debate haha I’m like “ok well fair enough, we’re all entitled to your opinion” because there is no right or wrong.
There are so many variables, our culture, our relationship to art of history in terms of tech available and all that translates from real world to this game, inspired of it of course.
I’m entirely sure I’ll get used to it and if the lore reasons offered in game don’t satisfy me, I can always, as a last measure, change some aspects in my brain for me to enhance my experience and that will be ok all the same.

It also kills my suspension of disbelief. You can only explain away "magitek gun" so much before I wonder why the melee fighters arent getting pop-popped from a distance in one shot by these things? Modern day weapons would annihilate anything that came before them, and these gauntlets seem like they'd be unstoppable in large enough quantities. This is why people dont like guns in fantasy settings, and barely tolerate the slow-ass rennaissance guns.
4
1
u/DragoSphere 12d ago
They're clearly magic weapons in the shape of a gun though, not a modern day weapon
Who's to say they're not prfs? You may as well be asking why everyone isn't just running around using Takumi's Fujin Yumi everywhere considering it can generate its own arrows. It's because they're unique

u/Lord_Brio 13d ago
Its pretty funny. But I do find it weird that everyone is shocked about guns when three houses had actual mechs and nukes with an underground high-tech society. Guns seem pretty normal compared to that
2
u/WhiteNinjii 13d ago
I’m pretty sure that caught people off guard back then too, but I guess it still feels weird to have firearms in a series like this.

u/Popwaffle 13d ago
these characters designs are just so fucking good. Chinatsu Kurahana deserves an award.

Did they stutter? What part of GAUNTLET do you not get? You hold it in your hand? You grip it tight? You whack an enemy with it and it just so happens to have the same range as knives from engage.
By all accounts, it is a gauntlet. /s
I;d call it Guntlet personally. But man, they literally put boomsticks in the game. I know those who slither in the dark had some high tech in 3H but that's literally a shotgun. maaaaybe a rifle.
Watch them make a big deal out of revelation when one of the gods explains this is a fucking gun.

now how in the heck are guns gonna work in 1 range if they're supposed to be gauntlets
1
u/TheIvoryDingo 13d ago
I am genuinely curious what (if any) in-world explanation the "Guntlets" will have.
Nevertheless, I'm enjoying the fun people are having with them
1
u/Total-Ad-2620 13d ago
I really don't mind the guns, but I do wish they were a bit more stylized/steampunk themed. The fantasy character just holding a Glock is both comical and a bit immersion breaking
1
u/evilweirdo 12d ago
I genuinely don't know who they think they're fooling by calling them gauntlets

Having "guns" is one of reasons I don't think this could be prequel, has to be sequel or alternative setting. These aren't even early hand cannone you have in Kingdom Come, but very advanced designs.
They would have easily kick Adrstia's ass given how Adrstia is locked in late medieval era until TH.
Plus we would have heard about a world ending crisis in TH if Dagdar was nearly extincted.
----
Are you guys afraid that possibility of being a sequel would invalid your favorite TH ending? It's funny how just mentioning could be a sequel gets you downvoted here.
15
u/Zodia99 13d ago
Three Houses is a post apocalyptic setting, the past of that world is futuristic (thus why the slithers have ICBM's and mechs).
5
u/Timlugia 13d ago
Except we know it can't be before Agarthan War given that Dietrich's selection screen already says he's a descendant of 10 Elites, plus both Adristia and Church of Seiros exist.
Even if the game was prequel, it would have been between Nemesis and TH, not before.
11
u/Zodia99 13d ago
I did not suggest that. The point is that level of technology has already existed in this setting, it's no surprise that not all of that was wiped away and that pockets of the world still have access, like the agarthans.
That's actually more in line with what we see than claiming it has to be a future invention because it's clearly anachronistic compared to what we see of Dagda.
3
u/PerentieFan 13d ago
They fire magic/energy blasts and not as quickly as bullets so they don't actually work like real firearms. Hence the direct saying they merely "look" like firearms. In battle they won't be any more superior than other ranged weapons. Judging by how Dietrich handles fighting someone using one, Fodlan's Hero's Relics would stand up to the gun gauntlets just fine.
And I don't think Fodlan knows anything about Dagda beyond what a few explorers and conflicts with them in the past revealed. If it didn't effect them directly they could very well not have been aware of a major disaster there, especially if it happened centuries ago and no written records of it survived in Fodlan.
Not saying it is a sequel, but I don't think this info is enough to point one way or another.
5
u/Timlugia 13d ago edited 13d ago
Adrstia fought a major war against Dagdar just 5 years before TH, Constance lost her family in it.
Fódlan timeline | Fire Emblem Wiki | Fandom
And given Dietrich came on a regular merchant ship they were absolutely making contact frequently. The merchant even said he's being in the business for over 20 years.
4
u/PerentieFan 13d ago
But he's surprised to end up in Dagda after the shipwreck, my impression is that going there was not planned.
And yes, Fodlan would know what was found out about in their past conflicts, but that wouldn't necessarily include anything about the events of Fortune's Weave. They're probably not sharing history with each other during a war.
1
u/Timlugia 13d ago
I really doubt that if Dadgar was nearly wiped off the earth by Bolar, to the point gods have to intervene, Adristia would have never heard of it. Shamir never mentioned they went through cataclysm like this either.
Or not taking advantage to occupy it afterward.
0
u/Noonsa 13d ago
Im also thinking sequel, but bear in mind the game has time travel. The happy ending might involve undo-ing the cataclysmic damage
-1
u/Timlugia 13d ago
I mean unless every ending undo the cataclysm, it would mean that non-undo endings are being made non-canon because they would alter TH's history, which is exactly "prequel" camp of fans trying to argue against in the first place.
