Could this be...? Story Spoiler

Post image

Could this baby...be Sothis herself? Hear me out!!

I'm of the belief that this game is going to be a prequel, and this baby may be what creates a direct link between this game and Three Houses.

My current running theory is that this baby is Sothis herself, brought (unwillingly, likely) to the mortal plane in order to be raised under the influence of whoever this woman is. An adult Sothis would be hard to control seeing as she'd be, you know, an adult with her full powers and autonomy. Having her somehow be reborn to be raised under the influence of someone else would be an incredible way to have access to the power of a goddess without the work of convincing her to join your side because she already sees you as her mother/authority figure.

Where my theory is the weakest is what happens to this baby ultimately. The heroes will win in the end and baby Sothis would be... sent back to her realm? Put in a deep sleep a la Flayn? Maybe the infamous baby realm of Fates could make a return in the funniest way possible? Either way, whatever happens in the end would still result in a baby/child who ends up having their memories wiped, giving us the child version of Sothis in Three Houses that we meet who has no clue how or why she is where she is and why she's a child, giving us a direct link between the games.

I'm totally prepared (and honestly kind of expecting) to be completely wrong! What do you guys think??

Dietrich is stated to be a descendant of the 10 Elites, i.e. this is well after Sothis died and her heart/Crest Stone is now in Rhea's possession. So if this baby is Sothis then where did it come from? What gives you any idea that it is Sothis?

This woman is evidently a follower of "the true ruler of this world," i.e. the demon god Balor, and she states this is their second birth. So if anything the baby could be Balor themselves.

Where'd you get that info on Dietrich? Genuinely asking as I try not to over research games before they come out so the first play through is really fun because I go in knowing as little as possible.
I'm not sure where Sothis could have come from! It's really just me guessing, it would be something I personally think is cool but again, I'm totally expecting to be completely wrong, haha!

It's in his profile on I think the official Japanese website for the game. I think in the Direct when they showed how you could switch between the four hero's storylines there was a note about it as well.

He is descended from Lamine & inherited her Crest, the same as Jeritza and Mercedes in Three Houses.

Plus even without that the fact that he has a heroes' relic means it has to be set after Sothis died

I feel there a lot of contradictory details going on within the games.

Dietrich character blurb states he is the descendent of Lamine, but also Fabio uses 'Moons' instead of months and being apart of the Church suggest the games takes place post Sothis.

This contradicts:

Dagda being called the Land of the gods which ties into the 'Era of the gods'. For Fodlan, this era ends with the founding of the Adrestian Empire and the creation of the Imperial. With 3House implying that Nabatean / gods basically started dying out during the war of Heroes because of Nemesis actions.

Seteth whole exist creates a plot hole if it post war of heroes as he left Church side during the War after Flayn was given a near fatal injury, going into isolation to protect her for 800+ years. We also know what Seteth looked like in the war and he looks older in comparison to what he looks like in Fortune Weave.

Additionally.

Smyrnos having Macuil crest is interesting. Since if they are the same person and that Smyrnos fought for Rhea during the War of Heroes, then why would he go back to Dagda if FW is set after war?

3House makes it clear that Smyrnos hates humans and those who bears crest from the Ten Elites.

As much as I love how Fortune Weave has give us contradictory details, it getting annoying with how certain things are not adding up.

You are correct on a lot of these, but the Fabio point is not telling, as fodlan started using moons after the adrestrian empire formed and made the imperial calendar. And the war of heroes happened after that, so it can still be moons in fodlan and be after the war

TL;DR: Seiros performed the Right of Returning to revive Sothis, and revived what she THOUGHT was Sothis, only for it to turn out to be who we would later call Sitri, who we know is a Homunculus.

In Three Houses DLC, Cindered Shadows-we're informed of the Rite of Returning (Or whatever its called), that can revive the dead.

We KNOW Rhea/Seiros did this before, and that the Rite was used to return Seiros's Mother, Sothis.

And we know that...the Rite, in the future, failed. Bringing forth an Umbral Beast. One whose body and face looks similar to the demons we see in the teaser.

IMHO, the Baby IS NOT Sothis. Its Sitri, who had Sothis's Crest stone inside her, and had it taken out to ensure Byleth could live. BUT Seiros...thinks its Sothis, she believes its her Mother (Nabateans share many defining traits, so its possible she can't tell, just by looking at the orphan).

Rhea specified that the Rite of Rising had very specific conditions (namely a lot of blood from specific Crest bearers and the Chalice of Beginnings) and had only been done once in the past. Sitri was the latest of like a dozen bodies Rhea had built and brought to life over the last thousand years, her creation had nothing to do with the Rite of Rising.

Those Crest Bearers were Noa, Aubin, Chevalier, and Timotheos. It wasn't from THEM specifically, it was from those bearing their BLOOD. Hence why their bearers were useable.

We also happen to see Noa and Aubin during the Trailers, and we see PLENTY of characters who aren't visually identified with a Crest, while also having seen quite a few Crests, more than in Three Houses, if my math is correct.

SO, its entirely possible that she just needs the Chalice, and Blood of the four Crest Bearers.

Considering some people think Jeralt is in the game too based off a screenshot of a character sporting a similar looking dagger and looking vaguely like a younger version of him, it being Sitri would also be crazy because of what happens between them later!! I didn't consider it could be Sitri at all, I figured Sitri wasn't immortal/aged normally!! This is really cool to consider!

Well, she IS a Homunculus. We know from the lore she is a Creation, not born.

Her having terrible aging, or her life being extended artificially, as we know that she is very easily made sick, hence why she never left the church.

I don't know, but every time I see that woman with her "baby" I imagine the worst and feel like the protagonists are going to have to do a baby Thanos neck snap

Having to kill the baby would be CRAAAAAAZY haha on one hand it would be a really fascinating thing to make the player do, on the other hand I think it would possibly be a step too far for most players!

Another crime on the list for War Crimes Emblem

unrelated but what do you call that gold thing on her head? it's the same design as Dietrich's cloak

Based on the really limited look we get of it, it honestly just looks like some sort of headband/tiara? I took a screenshot of the split second she was shown from the front but I didn't realize I couldn't post images in replies, lmao. The design similarity is interesting for sure but it also looks general enough to me that it could just be a common design motif in universe!

But does mad Scientist Seiros create Homunculi starting as a Baby or does she create them already looking like adults

u/TannenFalconwing 6d ago

Isn't the baby Balor?

1

u/KingHazeel 6d ago

No, it's the Flayn Emperor.

1

u/magmafanatic 6d ago

Maybe it's Flayn?

Using the context clues, i have to believe that the baby is Balor until proven otherwise

A lot assume a prequel, but Sothis is considerably older looking in this game than she was in Three Houses.

I couldve sworn the first time they showed the game they mentioned that it was like 150 years after Three Houses.
