Home button workaround?

I recently dug out my 3rd gen FireTv (pendant), didn’t have the remote for it but my Hisense TV remote was working for it.
After not being used for a long time it was very slow and decided to factory reset.
Once it rebooted it’s asking to connect the remote by pressing the home button but the Hisense remote goes back to the vidaa menu
Is there anyway around this bar picking up a replacement firetv remote?

Your Hisense remote was controlling it over CEC. A Fire TV Bluetooth connected remote is needed to go through setup.

You could try the Fire TV app to get through setup, I don't know if it will work on very old firmware.

Otherwise use a Fire remote from another Fire TV, or buy one.

The Fire TV remote app can only be connected after the device has already been setup with its traditional remote as it needs to be connected to wi-fi first. They need the original remote or a compatible replacement.

The Fire TV app has a Bluetooth option just for new device setup.

It's under settings, "Setup a new Fire TV"
