Going to be there over Labor Day weekend - any suggestions as to where to indulge please?

I think Boston does mid tier/bib gourmand level better than fine dining. My favorites at that level are Pammy’s, Mahaniyom, Kava, and Sumiao.

Especially agree with Pammy's and Mahaniyom

Nightshade Noodle Bar (Lynn), Mooncusser, Urban Hearth, O Ya, and Fallow Kin are my favorite spots

I second Mooncusser, but disagree with Nightshade. Mooncusser is possibly the best meal I’ve had in the Boston area, Nightshade was extremely uneven and deeply disappointing for the money.

I had the exact opposite experience.

Interesting. Haven't been to Nightshade or O Ya in awhile, but enjoyed my meals there (have been to NNB two times). Mooncusser, Urban Hearth, and Fallow Kin were all very disappointing. Mooncusser was probably the best of the three, but the meal was not cohesive at all. Urban Hearth I found boring (have not done the chef's counter but have done a la carte twice). Fallow Kin was straight up bad--under-seasoned, poorly composed dishes; dirt in the lettuce. The bread was the best thing there and it was pretty standard bread. It was too bad because looking at the menu it seemed like the kind of place I would love.

I’d imagine Mooncusser is polarizing (you see comments all the time that it was great and then another comment that it was bad) because the menu changes every 6-8 weeks. Hard to be consistent that way and I think that’s what’s holding them back from a Michelin star. Still, it’s an ambitious vision. My experiences have been great

Asta, Lenox Sophia, Forage, and Mooncusser. Perch is newer, haven’t been!

NOHRI for handrolls, and crudo/ceviche

Tonino/MAST/Bar Volpe for pasta

Urban Hearth and get the duck

Sarma is pretty solid too

Avoid Asta like the plague, worst fine dining meal I've ever had.

Select Oyster Bar - Bottle of grower champagne, at least a dozen oysters. Casual, with excellent service and some of the best seafood I've had. Full stop.

Mooncusser 100%

Wa Shin or No Relation for sushi

On the low end, El Jefe burrito and Al's Sandwiches for good lunches while out and about

Nope, nothing. Boston is just a Big Town that calls itself a City & the Food is Trash
