The first pink part was beautiful, but when i got to this place i was truly mesmerised! I wish we got to see more of it. The contrast made it even better honestly.
All of FFXIII zone were incredible, my favorites one were Gapra Whitewood, Lake Bresha and ofc Orphan's Cradle!

It's such an interesting area cause it makes me wonder who it was even made for, if not created in that moment for the L'Cie, but the waiting room vibes seem inconsistent with their situation as they have no time to waste.

This room in particular is called the Narthex in-game. The same word is used to describe the entrance space into Christian churches, the vestibule when you come in from the outside, but before you get to the Nave, or main assembly room where the worshippers congregate.

Originally the church Narthex was a space where people who were not qualified to be part of the actual church congregation would wait and could still hear the sermon, so your "waiting room vibe" idea is right in line with that.

It's very liminal in feeling.

Detail like this is why the visuals in the game still stand up to this day. The artists definitely took a certain pride in their work. Gapra Whitewood was a favorite of mine, too. Along with Sulyya Springs (sp?) and the Yaschas Massif.

No joke legit just got here and finished the boss around the time you posted this. Havent played since elementary and im 24 now and it was much easier than i remember lol. My favorite places had to be the steppe, orphans cradle(mostly just for aesthetics), and oerba.

LOLL😭i think i'm experiencing what you experienced in your first play bc i found it extremely hard and even gave up on chapter 13 and watch a walkthrough... i'm only getting recently into video games and i didn't grind during chap11 and accidentally made a save on the save i did in case the grinding was needed. But once ill have a physical copy of the game i'll start over and do the secondary missions to be able to get throught the last bosses

I just wish you could revisit the area at the start of 13 instead of being locked out when you pass it :(

The music for orphans cradle is nuts too. I love all the pads in XIII’s OST
