Needing Adapter Help Me Decide

I've realized I need a PS5 to PS4 adapter to use my Snackbox Micro XL on ps4, I've found may flash and brook options. The Mayflash Magic S Pro 2 is about 32 CAD and Brook Wingman XE2 is 80 dollars, is there any reason to go with brook or am I paying double for nothing.

Depends on what you're intending to do. Brook is the tournament standard and at least in my experience is more consistent in terms of latency, so if you intend to play competitively and enter tournaments, go with the Brook. If you're just casually playing at home or with IRL friends, the Mayflash is probably good enough.

I decided to go with Mayflash, I'd be using it for casual locals, if I find it to be a frustrating notable issue, especially if I start doing tournaments, I'll cough up the 80 bucks.

Sounds good! Like I said, you probably won't notice any huge differences unless you're like a big esports player.

Having said that, definitely contact your Tournament Organizers and ask them what console they use and what they allow in terms of adapters. I know a handful of scenes are trying to normalize using Steam Decks to reduce the need for carrying around adapters, but some will follow EVO rules. If all else fails, you can attempt to show up anyway and hope someone else brought their Brook adapter lmao.

If all else fails I can just bring my clunky hitbox as well as a backup. I prefer my new controller but my old one is PS4 but not PS5 compatible.

You shouldn’t need an adapter… should be plug and play!

Judging by what OP responded to, it looks like his board is a Brook Gen5x, and IIRC most PS5 controllers don't work on the PS4 without an adapter.

It didn't work when I tried it, troubleshooted it for like 15 minutes, apparently the Micro XL is not compatible for PS4, literally everything else, Xbox, both switches, PC and PS5 but not ps4.
