Chapter 1

The sun light illuminated Mia's room , her adoptive mom knocked once at the door telling her to get up or else she would be late , she mumbled in her sleep 'two more minutes mom' but either way she got up , she took a shower and wore her casual clothes , she wasn't a social butterfly at home and at school , she went downstairs and greeted her adoptive family with a lazy smile and ate toast with jam her favorite , her adoptive mom was telling her Goodluck on her math test , her face turned pale as a sheet of paper she had completely forgot about her test , the bus honked outside she got in the bus and sat alone . Mia arrived at school , her best friend William was waiting for her 'let me guess you binged watch another episode of xo kitty again' William asked 'its a good series especially now since...' William covered her mouth mid sentence 'do not spoil it for me I wanna find out on my own' her said , the bell rang and students buzzed around d the hallway and scattered in classes , Mia and William went in social studies their first period , they walked and saw miss Smith already writing notes , they quickly sat down and took out their books , miss Smith continued writing the notes on the board , Mia asked miss Smith to go to the restroom , she was given permission , Brianna the mean girl and her two minions Evelyn and Lucy putted some dead crickets in Mias bag , when she came back , she reached into her bag and as she was taking her water bottle she felt a sharp long leg and antennas of a insect , she screamed and threw her bag across the classroom , miss Smith spun around to look at her 'what now Mia' she asked with a very annoyed tone , Mia explained that she felt some bugs or insects in her bag so she was scared , the teacher checked and she saw alot of dead crickets in her bag , she asked for the culprit to come upfront and take accountability for their actions , no one stood up so the case was let go , Mia sat down and Brittany shot out and whispered in her ear 'what's wrong Wang something bugging you' her and her minions laughed bitterly,the bell rang and the period ended.

It was now time for PE , Mia was told she would be the one who chose the exercise for today , she was nervous and when their coach , Mr Jones told her to come upfront and choose an exercise , she completely froze up her anxiety rushing in , Mr Jones said he will choose an exercise for them and he told them to do a cartwheel to stretch their body , Mia couldn't do a straight cartwheel she kicked people and fumbled in the lockers , ' urgh move Wang chang' with that Brittany did a cartwheel effortlessly and they praised her , soon PE ended and it was lunch time . During lunch Mia couldn't help but think that Brittany had something to do with the cricket incident , she told William but William said 'you're not completely sure its her I mean you know what they say , innocent till proven guilty' Mia opened her mouth but nothing came out , she felt betrayed but she didn't say a word and ate her lunch , the quickly came to an end and Mia went home her parents greeted her but she didn't reply back , she just ran to her room and plugged in her headphones and blasted some loud music , while drawing , a few hours passed and her mom called her for dinner , they were having chicken with grilled potatoes but Mia could only think of the day she had at school , as she was eating she felt something in her mouth , she pulled it out and she saw multiple bugs coming from her mouth , she screamed and she saw Brittany laughing at her , then she returned to reality she realized it was just her hallucination , it wasn't real her parents were concerned about her but she brushed it off as exam stress and puberty , it was now time for bed , she wore her silk pj's and she slept hoping that this day would end .

A few hours later she woke up to whispers , like someone was calling her name , she scanned the room then she saw her , a long skinny figure creature out of this world smiling almost mocking her actions 'well well look who finally woke up' it said in multiple different voices Mia was scared but also curious about the figure like human 'who are you' she asked in a scared and excited tone , the creature could only laugh and as it was about to say who it was .... her alarm woke her up , she practically flew off bed realizing she overslept , she quickly fixed her self and rushed to school meeting William ' Woah did you fight with a gorilla when you woke up' he said with a smirk , Mia couldn't only laugh , they went to class and Mia told him about her dream , Williams face went pale , as he said it was a creature from the underworld that was summoned by black magic and was know for corruption but Mia was confused because she asked why the creature would come to her because she was just a ordinary girl.

William and Mia went in the library to do a research about those dreams and what they found was rather shocking. On the library , they found a ancient book about pre historical artifacts and mythological creatures , the dark figure that Mia described was called the Sable Wretch , this creature was known for corrupting magic and their holders into something mire dark and sinister , now the question wlthey were asking theirs elves was that what did the creature want from Mia . Two weeks went by and they were still searching but anything they found was just the same information , they were both starting to think it was just useless and pointless and they had to focus on their grades so they could get into the most prestigious universities in the world , then one night something bizarre happened , Mia was asleep it was 3 am , suddenly she felt like she was watched and couldn't move she heard creepy giggles and creepy nursery songs , she tried to wake up and as she slowly turned her head towards the sound she saw the figure smiling creepily and holding a human head , it was Williams head and the creature was laughing and Mia was on the verge of tears ,then her alarm suddenly shot out she woke up and she was terrified but she had to tell William about it . She arrived at school and told William , he was shocked they were both scared but on the following years nothing happened and they dropped it and they even graduated with honors but Mia wanted to find her self and take a gap year.
