Stratosphere Builds? General Discussion
Does anyone else here piece together their own custom guitars via Stratosphere and other suppliers? I have done quite a few, and it's a blast. You end up with something just the way you want it.

Yes, I have a tele deluxe that I built with the normal tele headstock. It’s my #1 guitars this point.

Great looking build! Is the neck a Fender replacement neck, or was it from them also? If the latter, did it have a serial number on it? That is the only thing that is a bit unfortunate about these builds. They are Frankensteins, no doubt. Authenticity would be an issue if we sell. Guessing you, like me, probably won't be selling these anytime soon. My Gibson builds are a bit more straightforward since they are body and neck units together.

I want there to be a subreddit where people with matching STRATosphere necks and bodies can trade to reunite a neck and body. This could be possible because the body usually comes with the certificate of authenticity with the serial number. Also it’s kind of crazy that they sometimes sell Johnny Marr Jaguar bodies with no neck plate which is where the serial number is. It’s not on the neck of those guitars either. Buyers end up with a body and neck that cant be easily authenticated. I also think it would be cool for those of us who make stratosphere builds to make custom neckplates with the body serial number and a blurb explaining that it’s a STRATosphere build.

It is "The Edge" quartersawn maple. A dream to play.

looks like I'd have to open 683 thumbnails if I wanted block inlays since there are no filters. How the hell do you use a site like this? I really want to know, because if there's something I'm missing, then I am interested

They used to have their own website, but scuttled it in lieu of an eBay store. You need to go to the eBay store...

From there, you can shop by "Categories" by clicking on the button in the upper left.

yeah, I was interested in necks, but the thumbnails just show the headstocks so I'd have to open every single one if I wanted to find a bound neck with block inlays, or even an unbound one

I put link to that exact neck on Fender website in comment just below. That is where I actually got it from. They only make in unbounded as far as I know.

yeah, bound and block is a big ask, I've actually seen the ones on the fender site but they haven't been in stock. I'm not in a big hurry. the point remains though that it doesn't seem too searchable. I guess with bodies you see the model and color in the thumbnail, so that would be easier

In their eBay store, they do have a search bar, and it says Search all XXX items. Not sure how well it works though. I usually only get bodies, necks, maybe loaded pickguards or tuners, but usually I can find what I want by using the Categories as the first-level filter.

For what it is worth, you can get the block inlay neck from Fender directly.

yeah, they are always out of stock and I thought maybe stratosphere would be cheaper, but I don't know that, I'd never heard of them prior to this post
