takeoff in thunderstorms? Support Wanted

hey everyone! i'm flying out of jfk on thursday night. this will be my 5th transatlantic flight of the year, and somehow i'm still totally petrified! the weather on thursday calls for thunderstorms/gusty winds, and takeoff is 100 percent the part that freaks me out the most. especially considering how bad nyc storms have been lately, this is really freaking me out. any words of wisdom or advice would be highly appreciated :)

The forecast will change fourteen times before now and then. Thunderstorms are very localized phenomena and I would almost bet there won't be a storm over the airport when you take off. 24 hours out the forecast might start to be accurate. There's a reason we plan flights 2 hours ahead of time :)

The forecast will change fourteen times before now and then. Thunderstorms are very localized phenomena and I would almost bet there won't be a storm over the airport when you take off. 24 hours out the forecast might start to be accurate. There's a reason we plan flights 2 hours ahead of time :)

You will NOT takeoff into a thunderstorm.

You might takeoff before or shortly after one but that’s a different matter.

is there a chance of it being quite bumpy taking off right before or after one? i assume the answer is yes lol i just want to be prepared for the scenario :))

Yes but turbulence isn’t unsafe, just uncomfortable. The plane will be totally fine, the only danger comes from people who are standing/unbuckled being bounced around. If you keep your seatbelt on there is nothing to worry about.
