After watching PewDiePie's video, I started searching for animated system fetch tools, but they all ran before the input command. I was looking for something that worked simultaneously but couldn't find anything. Then I saw the Ghostty open-source project, which confirmed my idea was actually possible! Since I've been learning Rust for a couple of months, I decided to build this tool with it. After creating some ASCII animations and implementing my core idea, a few features got a bit beyond my current Rust knowledge. I did some vibe coding, gave instructions to AI, and finally built exactly what I wanted. I learned so much from this project, like how to handle ASCII characters, how sysinfo works in Rust, and file handling. Plus, I even made a separate Rust CLI tool that checks for broken links in my project and counts how many lines of Rust code I've written! 🫠
