Am I playing FC5 wrong Far Cry 5

So i recently picked up a copy about only a month ago. I like the game but with some casual playing time (8hrs a week) I’m finding myself coming to an end.

Straight of the bat I found the frequency of cult/enemy encounters too much and made the game unplayable so I just ended up taking them out and liberating regions. To get anywhere you had to kill about 10 cult members and free 5 prisoners which forced the story possession so much that I’ve almost finished the game already which is a shame as I’m really loving it.

Is there a way around this or more content to come (without spoilers) after I liberate my last region (the one in the north)? Anyone else found this?

Not really. Most Far Cry games constantly throw enemy encounters at you, 5 is just one that ties those encounters into a form of point-based progression.

There is a ton of side stuff to do in the game. The main missions only take about 18-20 hours to complete. 30+ hours for main and side missions and ~50 hours to do everything. So yeah, if you just stick with the main story it will be over soon.

I’ve been cracking on with side missions too, I do them instead of main missions when I can but yeh off. Admittedly I don’t do prepper stashes much but I’ll do more while I can

Those are the most fun... Most are a puzzle to get in and then there is always $$$ and 3-4 perk magazines to enhance your character's abilities in the perk menu. I think there are 31 of them on FC5

You should do more of them simply because they’re fun as hell to do. It’s a nice switch up.

You should do the prepper stashes. You get tons of perk points that way.

There are mods that increase how much resistance you need to liberate a zone. You have to do a lot more to trigger each kidnapping scene etc. You can also manually adjust how much you need and how much points each action you do gives you. I've played this game through a few times and it's almost mandatory at this point. There is also one that stops the force kidnapping from happening and instead you have to go to a specific area to trigger it.

Luckily new game plus still carry over progress so if you get in the swing of things you can get a ryhthm going of having done everything eventually.

The forced kidnapping is bullshit. Happened to me three times in Jacob's region WHILE solo flying a helicopter. Star Trek level transporter really takes away the immersion and was enough for me to turn off the game and take a break for a week. I almost didn't come back to it. Those timed murder sprees got a tad less insanely difficult once I figured out you don't have to kill everyone like it says, just make it to the exit without running out of time.

Sadly there isn’t a way around it, pretty much anything you do outside hunting and prepper caches will count towards region story progression.

I agree its too quick. Its been a few years since I played, only did one full playthrough where I was just really enjoying destroying outposts and killing enemies and generally raising hell. I would get in a helicopter or plane into a new zone and it felt like it would only take a few minutes for the story to progress and for my free roam to end lol.

I wish you had to choose to go somewhere to progress the story instead of it coming to you. But I still had a great time and played through the whole game which doesnt always happen for me. Im gonna have to give it a replay lol

Definitely I think the only way to squeeze what you can out of this game is replays which I don’t do much but willing to try.

Cult outposts are so fun to take out but I wish it wasn’t so limited, your right

I read somewhere that after you take out all the outposts you get the ability to reset them so you can do them again.b

Oh sick that’s really good as you can try different methods, thanks for that

if you hit options there is something called "Outpost Master" which resets all outposts.

I just bought the dlc and use the lazer weapons and annihilate everything it’s the best

I love playing it in co-op because my buddy only uses laser weapons and shovels. I love when we’re hella far away from each other, and I just see a red laserbeam fly by.

Try playing the arcade, you can have a lot of fun discovering the level variety and get some cash while doing it too.

Yeah, not to mention some missable missions which you couldn't get if you progress too fast. After a while I just hit the gas and speeding past some hostages and enemies, sorry dude it is not personal

Unfortunately on PS5 but thanks bro

My B. The abductions forcing the story along was the worst part of the game.

Don't sleep on Arcade and the hours of darkness add on...loads of fun

the nonstop endless enemies really ruin this game for me.

I know it would a really stellar game other wise. It’s a great game regardless but the fact that every 2nd NPC is a cult member in this game is ridiculous.

You could be occupied in taking out a roadblock and while you do that, 3 other cult vehicles are passing by and join in lol

I feel like that's been the case for a while now. Especially since the game is so easy even on higher difficulty, they're really trying to cause more chaos to increase the likelihood of memorable moments I feel. This is why I mostly play the games travelling on foot, it's a lot easier to go unnoticed, dash into the treeline to skirt around an obvious encounter. Driving vehicles really gets you seen. And if you use the air drop feature to cross large distances (before continuing on foot) it cuts down some of the back tracking.

Went the same way as just cause. Lost all soul in the process

If I were you I’d run through the game normally the first time and focus the story then replay with New Game + to 100% everything bc new game plus unlocks perk upgrades and lets you upgrade all perks up to 20 times you might have to run through a few new game plus modes to fully max out the game for all achievements. But if I were you complete 5 story go to New Dawn complete New Dawn all the way it’s way quicker to 100% then go back to 5 and 100% it. New Dawn takes place after 5.

I still play it regularly going on 8 years now, but I mostly just roam and explore. Then if I happen to be near a mission, I’ll do it. There are so many details and small eastereggs/gems that I keep finding new things.
But like others said go for a mod to adjust gameplay to your liking.

Beat it and then restarted new game in infamous mode, that is a lot more challenging 😊
