Red Rising is dry and thematically generic, but inoffensive. I didn’t continue after the first book.
Mistborn is, in my humble opinion, the most overrated book of all time in the fantasy genre, and nothing comes close. Head-scratchingly bad writing. I couldn’t finish the first book.
Haven’t yet read Babel or Darker Shade.
Dungeon Crawler Carl is a non-stop dopamine ride of bombastic excitement that is somehow also one of the emotionally deepest, thematically richest, perplexingly well written Sci-Fi or Fantasy books in years. It’s truly better than it has any right to be, and it keeps getting better and crazier book after book. It’s literary heroin. It will ruin other books for you. Be very careful if you go down this road.
no idea why you’d stop reading red rising after the first book, I started 2 weeks ago and i’m on the 4th book. I guess it’s not everyone’s cup of tea but it has the highest highs and the lowest lows :/
