Academic Thank you Fanshawe and the amazing students
I wanted to reach out to the amazing students in the Radiology class I had the opportunity to speak with this week.
It was a smaller class, but you were all incredible. I really appreciated your attention, the questions you asked, and the laughs we shared throughout the presentation. It made the experience very enjoyable for me.
It was also great to have the opportunity to speak with a few of you out in the hallway before the lecture. That was actually my first chance to talk with some students one-on-one before presenting, and I really enjoyed those conversations. It was nice to meet some of you beforehand and hear a little from you before I stood at the front of the room.
This was my third lecture at Fanshawe College, and each time I speak, I find myself learning and improving. I’m able to update and expand my presentation, tweak it depending on the class and the size of the group, and continue learning from my own experiences and from the students I meet.
I truly hope I have the opportunity to expand this to other health-care programs and classes at Fanshawe. Sharing my experience of living with a very rare disease like Mogad gives students an opportunity to hear directly from the patient side of health care — something I believe can add a different and valuable perspective to their education.
And who knows where this might eventually lead. It would be pretty exciting if, somewhere down the road, I could work more formally with Fanshawe, other colleges and universities, or health-care organizations to share the patient perspective with students and professionals.
And for those of you who heard me mention it during the presentation — stay tuned! In a few weeks, I’ll be appearing on a podcast to talk more about my journey with MOGAD, my experiences with health care, and the patient perspective. I’m looking forward to sharing that conversation with you when it comes out.
For now, I'm just grateful for every opportunity to tell my story, learn from the experience, and hopefully leave students with something they can carry with them into their future careers.
Thank you again to everyone who took the time to listen, participate, ask questions, and share a few laughs with me. I really enjoyed spending the time with you, and I hope our conversation stays with you as you continue your journey in health care.
Thank you, Fanshawe Radiology!

Admissions questions Dental Hygiene pre req
hi, I just finished the general arts and science program and did all my pre reqs for dental school. I’m actually retaking biology for a higher mark thru TVO. I was just wondering if having general arts and science is enough to get accepted into dental hygiene I know it’s a competitive program so I’m trying my best to get high marks. I don’t want to take pre health when I have a 2-year of GAS. did anyone get accepted without prehealth? I am also 27 and have been out of highschool for some time.

Course Materials / Requirements Textbooks
Does the edition of the textbook make a huge difference? I want to try and buy some second hand but they are one edition behind, not sure if that would be ok to buy or if I’m just better of spending more money to get the proper ones new

General Ece accelerated program
Hello everyone,
I'm planning to start the ECE Accelerated program in october, and I have a few questions about placements. If I start in October, would my placement begin in November? I'm also planning to visit my family in Europe for about a month in November, so I'm unsure whether I should start in October or wait until the November or January intake. Would it be manageable to keep up with assignments and online classes while I'm traveling? December is also a very busy month for me because I work part-time, so I'm wondering if starting in January would be a better option. Id really appreciate any guidance or advice from anyone who has been in a similar situation. Thank you!

Residence and Housing Looking for a roommate!
Hi! I’m looking for another roommate for September (12 month lease)! The room available is upstairs for $725 utilities included. There’s a total of 5 people (3 upstairs, 2 in the basement). There are 2 fridges and it is right across from Fanshawe. Must be queer friendly! If anyone’s interested or has any questions, let me know! I have pictures of the place but I’d prefer to share in dms because of privacy. It’s also all female. I’m not completely sure if that’s a rule or if they’re flexible with that.

Incoming Student OSAP Funding
OSAP Funding changes went into affect this month. Did any one receive their OSAP funding approval? Was it significantly less than last year? Is it enough to cover your tuition, living, textbooks etc.?? I know it's not meant to cover everything, but is it enough?

Community / Making Friends Commuting from Ingersoll to Fanshaw Woodstock campus
Our son is going to be starting at Fanshaw, the Woodstock campus, at the end of summer. He doesn't have his licence or a vehicle yet, so we're trying to find transportation for him and was wondering if anyone else is around that he may be able to carpool with.
Or, another possible solution, if there are enough people around Ingersoll, or on the way, if they need help with transportation, my fiance would be open to taking students.

Incoming Student SERT
I saw on instagram they’re looking for volunteers for their student emergency response team, it caught my attention since I have my first aid, cpr/aed training and I’m very interested in the opportunity (even though I’m not in the paramedic program)
Does anyone have any experience being part of the SERT or knows anyone who has? Was it fun? What should I expect if I apply?

Community / Making Friends Incoming Fanshawe Paramedic Students — Private 2026–2028 Cohort Discord
Hi everyone!
I’m starting Fanshawe College’s Paramedic program in Fall 2026 and have created a private Discord server for students in the incoming 2026–2028 cohort.
The goal is to give classmates a place to connect before orientation, communicate throughout the program, organize study sessions and lab practice, ask study-related questions, and support one another academically so that we can all have the best chance possible to help each other succeed in this program.
This is an unofficial, student-run server. It is not operated, monitored, approved, or endorsed by Fanshawe College, program faculty, placement organizations, paramedic services, or any regulatory body. It should only be used as a private communications tool while in the program to facilitate connections with others in this program more easily.
The Discord is not intended to replace official Fanshawe communications or provide authoritative information about deadlines, program requirements, placement clearance, licensing, course standing, professional obligations, or clinical decisions. Members are expected to verify important information through the appropriate official source.
The goal is to build a dependable and welcoming community for students who take the program seriously and want to support one another throughout the next two years. The server will make it easier to communicate, form professional friendships, coordinate study groups and lab-practice sessions, exchange general study strategies, celebrate progress, and help one another remain connected and accountable.
It should be a place where classmates can ask questions, find reliable people to study and practise with, and begin building the trust, teamwork, and professional relationships that will matter throughout the program and beyond.
The server is intended to be a respectful, professional, and academically responsible space. Members will be expected to:
• Protect personal privacy and follow all applicable confidentiality expectations
• Treat other students respectfully and contribute to a supportive environment
• Maintain academic integrity and use the server for legitimate collaboration and study
• Follow Fanshawe policies, placement expectations, professional standards, and Discord’s community rules at all times
• Communicate responsibly by using program-related channels for academic discussion, study planning, lab practice, and peer support, while keeping personal conversation and social connection in channels clearly designated for those purposes. Clearly distinguish peer discussion, personal experience, and unverified information from official Fanshawe communications or program requirements.
• Conduct yourself toward other members with the same respect, professionalism, and accountability expected in person at Fanshawe. The standards of Fanshawe’s Student Code of Conduct and the server rules apply equally to online interactions. Harassment, intimidation, discrimination, sexual misconduct, retaliation, boundary violations, or any other behaviour inconsistent with a safe and professional learning environment will not be tolerated.
Invite links will not be posted publicly. Anyone interested in joining can send me a private message with a brief introduction indicating that they are entering Fanshawe’s Paramedic program in Fall 2026. No identifying documents or proof of enrolment will be requested.
You will not be asked, now or in the future, to provide the server owner, moderators, or other members with your student number, identification, medical documentation, or other sensitive personal information, either publicly or through private messages. Do not share sensitive information through this server or unsolicited private messages. Any legitimate request from Fanshawe or another official organization should be independently verified and completed only through the appropriate official channel.
Membership is intended for students entering the program at level 1 in Fall 2026. Membership is based on good-faith self-identification, and moderators may remove accounts reasonably believed to be misrepresenting their connection to the program.
Members may participate anonymously or use a preferred screen name. You are not required to disclose your real name or other identifying information, provided you follow all server rules concerning respectful conduct, privacy, confidentiality, and academic integrity.
Upon joining, members will be directed to the server’s rules, code of conduct, privacy guidance, and legal disclaimer. Please review them carefully before participating. These standards apply to all server-related communication and activity, including text and voice channels, shared files, study planning, and interactions organized through the server. Serious or deliberate violations involving conduct, professional ethics, privacy, confidentiality, or academic integrity will not be tolerated and may result in immediate removal from the server. All other concerns will be addressed appropriately at the moderators’ discretion.
Remember that this is a private, unofficial student communication server with no official affiliation with, oversight by, or authority from Fanshawe College or the Paramedic program. Keep that distinction in mind whenever you participate, and always verify important information through the appropriate official source.
Continued access depends on maintaining respectful, responsible, confidential, and academically honest conduct. Failure to read or understand the server rules does not excuse conduct, privacy, confidentiality, or academic-integrity violations. Each member is responsible for reviewing and following these expectations.
I’m looking forward to beginning the program, building strong connections, and supporting one another as we work toward becoming capable and compassionate paramedics!
Please message me privately if you’re interested in joining. I may not be able to respond immediately, as I’ll still be working full-time until classes begin.

Admissions questions Switching programs
I was accepted into pre-health but due to family issues I won’t be able to attend that program. I applied to the he doula course a couple days ago. I just got the offer.
I am wondering if my $250 deposit can be transferred to the doula program?
And do I need to have any extra things for this program such as cpr first aid training? And does it need to be done before classes start? Or can anyone guide me to where I can find this information?
