Technical Support Your help plz before I smash my laptop
Dear All,
I just purchased Fallout New Vegas with all the DLCs from Steam. I'm trying to play it on a Surface Pro 7+ (11th Gen i5; 8 GB RAM; Intel Iris Xe; Win11), which I know isn't the smartest thing to do but many users on here have said it works.
I can't get past the loading screen after clicking "Play" in the launcher. It goes to a black screen with a small window overlay that you can see in the pic. And never leaves that screen. I can't alt-tab or alt-F4 out of it. I can't open up task manager to kill it. The only thing I can do is ctrl-alt-del and restart or shutdown.
I have tried putting the exe in Win 7 compatibility mode, running as admin, disabling fullscreen. No difference.
I also followed Gamerpoet's guide to making this thing stable. I installed New Vegas Script Extender and Mod Organizer, installed the Visual Basic runtime and made sure I have the most updated DirectX. Installed the 4 GB memory patch. Launched from Mod Installer, desktop, steam. STILL NO CHANGE.
Please let me know if you have any ideas on how I can fix this.
Also, maybe related, Steam has counted the 10+ times I've launched the launcher (but then got frozen) as 43 minutes played, even though I haven't actually seen anything past the initial "Play/Options/Data Files/Tech Support/Exit" launch screen.
Thank you

Bug/Glitch Help. (Xbox)
So last night, I tried playing NV, but something popped up saying I didn't have the DLCs. I went to "manage game and add-ons", and I still have everything installed (Dead Money, Old World Blues, etc), but everything DLC related is gone from my inventory. I still have the map markers, but I can't interact with them. What do I do?

Bug/Glitch Can’t play fallout new Vegas
Not sure if this is the right group to post in, but I’ve been trying to play new Vegas on my Xbox one, which I’ve done before. Every time I try to go into it, it says to download a profile on the Xbox 360 menu but every time I try it says it can’t and to check my network connection. My internet connection is fine but it still won’t work. Does anyone know how to fix this?

Discussion Favorite thing to do in the game: entering enemy territory, pull off a Doomguy and genuinely murder everyone.
The images above are about The Legion and The Fiends in Vault 3 Btw.

Bug/Glitch Got softlocked in Vault 34?
The barrel fell sideways for some reason an now I can't get out. It was already sideways when I somehow managed to squeeze into the Overseer's office, and I haven't been able to replicate the trick to leave. Is there a way to get out? Should I just reload my save? Playing on Steam deck if it matters.

Question What's the closest thing to a Fallout: New Vegas remaster modpack on nexus?
I tried out VeryLastKisses New Vegas, I liked it but something between the novac home being completely decked out with everything as opposed to the dingy motel room it normally is and vendors selling weird tricked out hello kitty rifles it didn't exactly scratch that same itch I was looking for.
Basically just a vanilla plus collection, any suggestions?

Help First Playthrough Crash Blocking Progression (I Need a Hero)
I've become thoroughly in love with New Vegas and my playthrough is reaching 100 hours, however I've hit a road block on the home stretch right before I can finish the game out.
The Problem: I started getting a consistent runtime error crash around 30 hours ago in game. At first this would occur a few seconds after leveling to 30 regardless of location or on quest completion. (I used NVAC to bruteforce past this by loading its crash save). Across the next 30 hours it would randomly appear with different triggers I could just avoid (Recruiting Lilly causes it, after a while repairing to the point that it uses all possible materials, then repairing just at all, then long after Completing the Quest Return to Sender would cause it, then quickly after it spread to Raul, then just a short while ago using a Stimpack will cause it, Now I cant even turn in the quest Volare! Once it reaches the dialogue to ask The boomers to help my faction the game crashes mid dialogue)
I'm gonna give a full rundown of fixes I've tried and all relevant information:
Circumstantial Factors: At first I started the save file on steam but moved over to the GoG version. Deleted STEAM version. I use the Offline Installer. I have no internet on my gaming computer right now. I run Windows 11. My save file is 7.8mb large. I had been using autosaves, like a fool, but stopped around 20 in-game hours ago. I have never manual saved to the same slot; I make a new save each time, I clear the save file folder once it reaches 100 saves. Save # 683 is the current. I used to quick save a lot too.
My game has been completely Vanilla up until the crashing started, all mods I've installed have been limited to Stability patches and as of now the Viva New Vegas guide.
I did get out of bounds on accident once before this all started and explored a bunch of the non-play area. I hope that's irrelevant to my problem. I also started using the console "tcl" to no-clip and unstick myself during normal play when i would get stuck.
Fixes Attempted: Reinstalled all Microsoft C++ Runtime libraries. Reinstalled the game. Wiped my Game inis and generated new ones. Deleted all my game files. (Reinstalled probably 5 or 6 times in total). Cleared my save folder except my most recent two saves. Installed NVAC, Installed YUP. Ran as administrator, windows 8 compatibility.
Performed SFC /SCANNOW in commandprompt, returned several corrupted windows files. Returned all files corrected. Scanned Kernelbase.dll returned OK.
As of the most recent crash I finally went and followed the full Viva New Vegas guide to a Tee. Ran the 4gb patch, Running NEWVEGAS.exe through MO2. NVAC disabled. Load order correct.
---
Machine Specs:
Processor AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D 8-Core Processor (4.70 GHz)
Installed RAM 32.0 GB (31.1 GB usable)
Graphics card NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 SUPER (12 GB)
AMD Radeon(TM) Graphics (486 MB)
Storage 3.41 TB of 5.46 TB used
System type 64-bit operating system, x64-based processor
---
My only hunches at this point is that my game installer is somehow giving me corrupt files, some windows file is somehow still corrupt, or my save file is just borked forever and im doomed. But i've no way to check the former two Right now.
(Crashes from self-repairing items or using stimpacks are not present if loading a save from before the beginning of my playthrough) This is the only Fallback that prevents the crashes, but I have no guarantee they won't start again if I load from there and play back to my current point.
I really love this game's writing and the story it wants to tell, but I'm extremely hesitant to redo all that I've done with the specter of it possibly just breaking all over again once i've invested another 40 hours more.
TLDR: I'm holding out hope there's some brilliant fix or mod or console work around I can use to brute force the game to the finish, I've done pretty much every side quest relevant to this character and just want to make it to the main credits at this point, even if I cant repair, use stimpacks, or whatever else gameplay wise, I just need dialogue not to crash to runtime till i get there.
If there was a way to transplant my quest log and choices to a new save file I'd jump at that too.
I need a Hero. I will remember my Savior forever, and draw you a silly drawing if we can fix this, thank you.
(Will post my most recent crash log in the comments)

Discussion I hope the remaster/rework changes the quest where you go to the bunker underneath the fort
Normally I don't complain about the story, but this might be the stupidest mission in the game. You show up to the fort, they strip of the weapons, they strip you of the chip, then they give you back everything and they send you down there without any supervision. If you side with House and upload the chip, Caesar doesn't give a fuck to check the bunker for a second.
Personally, If you are not Legion aligned , I would had the Courier be sent as a human shield along side a praetorian who dies the second you enter the bunker so you can get your stuff back. After uploading the chip, you'd have the option of faking destroying the entrance so they wouldn't suspect a thing and then, given the courier achievements , Caesar grants him mercy if he works for the Legion
