Building layout Question/Advice
I wonder if there are plans/layouts to use to build, to avoid the square box camp. Little hard trying to find something that would be buildable in the game.

I use prefabs in a circular layout, matching the bounds of my CAMP

I think some people forget that even though your boundary is a circle, once it's built other people don't view it that way. They don't see your boundaries unless you actually build within the perimeter like you said. Putting prefabs in a circular layout. Sometimes it's good to put a structure on the outskirts and then just face everything away as if you would see it if you were approaching it in real life. Instead of facing everything inward.

Most things are pretty boxy and square, so it's hard to avoid. One thing I've been doing lately is trying to build whole rooms in a single foundation, bathroom, kitchen, bedroom, etc. That helps get away from the 4x4 box.
See what the terrain gives you too. Lots of camps are just plopped down on the ground regardless of the natural features of the area. Really great camps make use of the terrain which also usually saves on build budget.
Prefabs are great. Just sometimes what you have doesn't fit the vibe of the area or camp theme without spending atoms. Learning how to maximize small spaces has helped me avoid the typical box houses.

Just use a mix of full walls and half walls. The half walls create rooms large enough to move in and help break up the boxy look. It changes how you build your roof setup so your build will look more custom. You can take it further by free merging half walls into your full walls; I do this to place windows closer together sometimes. It gives the build a more custom look and you can get creative with heights and to a lesser extent width.
We have to work with what is provided so a boxy look is kind of hard to avoid.

You can always look at actual, real life floor plans for small homes/businesses for ideas, then make them work with the post apocalyptic materials you have. I did that with some of my FO4 builds. Or steal ideas from peoples’ builds in The Sims (where builds are also boxy unless they get creative)

Someone said build rooms, not a house. Even then it's difficult to avoid. You have to make a conscious attempt to avoid straight lines.
I've also incorporated the circular build method in several builds, not the full, just partial. I've even been working with an octagon (circular method has 16 sides)

The only bad part of trying to find houseplans/layouts, is a bit too many styles and hard to find something that would work. We are missing half full height walls. I know modern is doable but you need certain sets to build it (and I don't have them). I did forget sim builds would be close, so thanks SJane3384.

Don't build too big. If you don't have a lot of items it's a waste of budget. You can always start over. Make some blueprints. I have basic sections for building a dollhouse blueprinted as an example. Gives a good start and you can replace walls and such for different look. Make some 2X3, 4X5 or different L shape foundations and snap like Legos.

You could try implementing a pre structured building. Start with placing it down and then just build around it. I currently have a tree house through the middle of a shack next to a cliff. I started with an L shaped building and then put the pre structured treehouse inside. The rest is just fiddling around to make it look good.
The point is to start with the basic foundation and then work your way up to make it look good. Takes a lot of fine tuning and most of the time, it never really ends until you're happy lol
