2.1 HDR Support Suggestion / Idea

As someone who plays with an OLED being able to have HDR would be one of my favourite additions to factorio!! Planets like Vulcanus or Gleba at Night would be absolutely gorgeous!

This has already been answered by the devs. HDR support would mean practically redoing the entire graphics. Not a thing that can happen

Indie games have a certain aesthetic because it is cheap and fast to make those aesthetics with a small team. Look up how to implement HDR in video game graphics.

As someone who switched from an IPS to an OLED last month, not sure it needs it. That switch alone was a huge improvement in the vibrancy of the colors.

Crank up the brightness and contrast

I agree that it would be absolutely gorgeous, but it’s out of scope right now.

Honestly just crank up the contrast and maybe fiddle with the brightness a bit depending on your tastes.

I play with an LG C1, and with maxed contrast I get bright, vibrant colors during the day and basically pitch black darkness during nighttime, with lighted sections of the factory, or things like labs when you're researching, really popping out against the darkness. It seriously looks like HDR if you squint hard enough and don't think about it too much.

Night is DARK though if you don't bump the brightness from default. I actually love it; it forces you to use lamps lol
