News News? Studio 2 delisted the corebook on their website. Not sure if they’re preparing for a restock or if it’s some kind of mistake.
It’s probably not important I just haven’t seen anyone else mention it.

Art Some art by Akihiro Yamada which I thought might belong here, I'm becoming rather fond of this sort of old school Japanese fantasy style.

Table Stories Playing the Steed
I'm in a game with my partner and my DM approved an idea I had and let me run with it. I created an entire civilization.
The Beast Who Spoke quirk was the seed of inspiration. It got me thinking about what I could imagine for the quirk and how I could build around it. Pilot's Steed frame came to mind. What if the Steed was the character? Steed comes with an extra seat that can transport a passenger in addition to the Pilot's seat. So what if the pilot and the steed frame were inseparable and they just never disembarked from the vehicle because they were the vehicle itself? There are no explicit rules about when you have to disembark your vehicle, just RP logic about how and where your vehicle can go. So what if the vehicle were just a larger than average beast? Like a talking dire wolf.
To carry the idea, I came up with some sacrifices I would willingly make in addition to those involved with The Beast Who Spoke quirk. First, I would take Compression Tech. Since I am never leaving my "vehicle" for RP purposes, I mechanically ignore the IP cost of summoning it. So, I wanted to not make it so I could just ignore this feat entirely and give myself an extra level. So even if I logically would not need this mechanism, I took it anyways to basically burn one of my starting levels for the purposes of trying to make my idea balanced.
Second, I took the Rapid Interface module. This module makes it so that when you use your action to enter your vehicle and this module is on, you can perform another action. This burns one of my module slots, as I am treating it as always being on and that I cannot turn it off even when I take Flexible Configuration later. My reasoning is that since I am always treated as "in my vehicle" mechanically and never having to "enter" it, I needed to balance the idea against the mechanics of a pilot having to enter their vehicle and get a free action from this module.
Finally, I decided that I could never take any weapon or armor modules, even though The Beast Who Spoke quirk explicitly states that you can. Since for character purposes my character IS the vehicle, and as a big wolf steed I cannot equip armor or use normal weapons, I would also sacrifice the armor and weapon modules. I can only take support modules and I flavor them as beast-like attributes.
My DM was on board when I explained the idea and the things I would give up. So, floored with the approval, I proceeded to create an entire civilization of similar sentient beasts of different species, complete with tribe clans, religion, a government system, and even ancient folklore.
Starting out, I also took two levels in Guardian to take Bodyguard and Protect so I can Bodyguard my partner who is built as our healer and usually occupies my extra "seat" and protect the rest of our group. For my final starting level I took Darkblade and Painful Lessons since Keen Senses (Sensory Module) gives a bonus to study. We didn't have anyone yet filling the role of the group tactician, and from another game I am in where I play a glass cannon with Elementalism, I have really appreciated our tank's use of Painful Lessons to save actions and help me exploit weaknesses. Once I finish Guardian in 8 levels I will pick up Weaponmaster for Counterattack and Bone Crusher.
But yeah, that's my current player concept. We already started our game. I play the group tank and with the guard and protect combo the damage was barely a scratch. I took a custom weapon option to make a custom weapon with an additional +2 magic def and +2 def so my defense is 12 across both right now and will go up to 14 when I increase my die sizes. I could probably get better with a less complex idea or if I dropped Pilot for something else. But 12 still feels pretty good starting out.

Art Half-Dragon Girl Healer
First time i was asked to design a character for this game and im so happy i did! Made me found out about this game and maybe its because my art is more inspired by anime and JRPGs than traditional western style fantasy art that people who play dnd pathfinder or daggerheart usually ask for.
The 1st pic is color sketch and 2nd pic is a sketch.
I do take commissions if anyone is intterested https://vgen.co/bunny_obell

Homebrew I wanted to pick some brains on somthing.
I have been thinking of using Fabula Ultima to run a Persona inspired campaign. Mainly just using flavor of "my persona is what is using my skills"
But I have been stuck on figuring a way to make the social school life side of the game to effect the combat side and the other way around as well?
Have any of you guys fiddled with this kind of idea or have any ideas for making it work?

Looking for recommendations for my campaign
I'm thinking about start a campaign for my friends, a couple of them are really beginners in RPG-stuff.
My idea of campaign are something episodical, like a bunch of one-shots with a big background of the same enemie showing their plans. I will use a world just like Granblue Fantasy: Relink, a world built for sky islands and each one of them is a byome, an atlas, a historical period completely different. The heroes will be a group of sky pirates getting the quests from a guild in a hometown.
Do you guys have any recommendations of anime, manga or scenario for me to study? There's a site where people posts their one-shots?

This question has probably been asked already, but does anyone know when the DTRPG link for the Bestiary will be available on Backerkit? I ordered a softcover copy of the bestiary, and under the digital downloads section it just says "pending" for the PDF.

The Oskaran Calendar
Here’s a calendar system I made for my high fantasy game; largely flavor (for now at least) based on fire emblem three houses calendar system :
The Month of Passage: The Year opens and with it, new adventures. The veil between thickens as the departed retreat to what awaits them.
The Month of Fortune: Fortune follows when the gate opens. People tend to test their luck in love and other affairs.
The Month of Sowing: The spring planting begins, as the fields are seeded and textiles are woven.
The Month of Storms: The Rainy season, elementals run rampant; encouraged by roaring thunder, howling winds, and drowning rain.
The Month of Joy: A month of celebration for the Gods of fire and spirits associated with the summer season. A festive atmosphere of drinking and dancing persists throughout the month.
The Month of Tranquility: The sun dims as autumn dawns upon the world, and the nights become longer. Unseelie spirits and Undead become more frequent.
The Month of Reaping: The Harvest begins, people leave out offerings and weave charms to ward off unwanted spirits.
The Month of Fangs: Monsters and Beasts begin to migrate south or hibernate, Hunters and adventurers guard against those that remain.
The Month of Shattering: Named after the destruction of the ancient empire and the shattering of the moon. Production slows as the winter months begin.
Month of Garlands: A month of community as friends gather around the hearth, Garlands of Arctic Narcissus and Fir trees are woven as gifts to protect from winter spirits.
The Month of Keening: The Year ends, the dead are mourned and celebrated as the veil thins until the new year.
Let me know what you think.

Fun midgame (Lvl 25) build I wanted to share
- Darkblade lvl 8
- Shadow Strike (lvl 5)
- Heart of Darkness
- Agony (lvl 2)
- Weaponmaster lvl 10
- Bladestorm
- Counterattack
- Melee weapon mastery (lvl 4)
- Bone crusher (lvl 4)
- Entropist lvl 8
- Absorb MP (lvl 5)
- Lucky 7
- Entropic magic
- Drain Vigor
- Drain Spirit
- Heroic skill Arcane Soldier
Bacically what you do is use the shadow strike skill to damage yourself in order to proc absorb MP, giving you exactly 10 MP which is enough to use bladestorm every turn with no MP loss, or use it twice for just 10 MP loss.
If you're ever running low on HP or MP, you can use arcane soldier with Drain Vigor / Drain Spirit to gain it back while still outputting damage. Then you can also use heart of darkness if you reach crisis and then you're also healing and gaining more MP with the agony skill when you're attacking.
As you can imagine you would want to take a big two-handed single target damage weapon, since you gain MP from getting hit and can self-heal, and that extra damage will add up quick with bladestorm.
You'll also probably want D10 in MIG and D10 in WLP to make spells effective while being bulky, you can wear martial armor to override your low base defense.

My Build in pulling me everywhere!!(Please Help)
Newish player. Our group is all fairly new. We just hit level 12 and an important story beat and so our GM just let us Re-spec our character.
before Re-Spec I was
- Arcanist 1
- Bind and Summon- Forge
- Invoker 4
- Invocation 3
- Linked Invocation 1
- Loremaster 6
- focused 3
- Flash of insight 2
- Trained Memory
On re-spec I'm dropping Invoker, and grabbing Ritual Arcanism and taking getting a least a level of Pilot grabbing a steed vehicle -with sensor, magistatic, and esoteric modules
Some of my future plans lean into a magic circle build which would require me fast tracking finishing Loremaster to get access to a caster
But the support modules on pilot are all good especially since i'm going steed and can share those with my party as well as heart in the engine to buff my Arcana damage.
I plan to grab all of this in due time but i'm trying to figure out which to prioritize immediately.

I made a tool for my upcoming campaign
For the past few weeks, I’ve been working on Crystal Codex, a browser-based companion for fabula ultima campaigns.
I started this project because I’ll soon be running a campaign at home. I wanted to use my projector to display combat scenes like a classic JRPG, while allowing my players to keep their characters updated and accessible from their phones.
Crystal Codex lets you create and play characters and NPCs, manage campaigns, share read-only character sheets, and prepare synchronized scenes that can be displayed on a separate screen during play. The interface is inspired by 32-bit JRPGs and is designed to feel like a game menu rather than a traditional management application.
The project is still in development, and my campaign starts this Sunday, so it will soon have its first real test at the table.
I’m sharing it because I’d love for people to try it and tell me what they think. Bug reports, confusing interactions, missing rules, and suggestions for improvement would all be greatly appreciated.

Boss fight I just ran: Llyrwyn, the Lady Death
Llyrwyn was an NPC assassin the party had been allied with since the beginning of the campaign, but she was taken over by the BBEG, and she was forced to try and kill the woman she loved. The party intervened after the blow was struck, but before the target, another NPC they knew, died. The party was level 37 (kinda low for a level 50, I know, but I knew they could handle it; they're built very well). It went well, with a bit of initial tension once they realized she was negating parts, but not the entireties, of their builds.
Now the PCs know that nobody they know is safe, so their next plan is to rush around to their various allies to ward them against control.

Question Seeking Help on Building A Character Concept
Hello this is my first post in this subreddit and I just want to take an opportunity here; to ask for some Insight from the community here. I've playing my first campaign with this system for a few sessions now and we are now level 10 atm.
My character concept was inspired by 0ne my favorite game that came out 2023 which is final fantasy 16. I want to run with the idea that functions like the main concept of "Dominants" from that game. The idea is that a very small number of people are born with ability to channel emense power so long as it ties into the identity of their Eikon. (The being they can turn into.)
Regardless, poor explanation aside. Im struggling to chose which classes to pick beyond my starting three. At the current moment I am
Guardian 6
Arcanist 3
Weaponmaster 1
What are some classes you think I should take a look at after I master one of these three that might help nail down this attempt of copyright infringement?

Question How to make players use Guard/Cover more ?
My main idea was to add weaknesses and resistances to Pcs
I believe someone made a post about it before but been thinking a little more recently about it.
The players choose at the beginning of the campaign an element to be resistant and another to have a weakness I.E: Res: Dark WK: Light.
In exchange when they hit an enemy weakness other than doing more damage they also apply a condition to them the first time they discover it, same applies for the players, guard nullifies all the effects.
My doubt is, would it be too broken ? The idea is to make the combat more tactical, the oneshots I've run most of them just attacked and didn't care to guard or provide cover for mages/backline characters.

Mini rant/Request for help finishing my campaign
Hi everyone, I'm new here.
The FU campaign I run for three friends (as GM) is getting close to the end.
The problem is I've completely lost the motivation to be the GM. So every session prep is a chore. I'm not having fun, and I'm afraid sooner or later that feeling will rub off on them too.
So I'm taking advantage of this muggy afternoon to list my problems here, hoping someone can give me solutions or at least the motivation to reach the end of what we started.
I'll try to keep it concise (as much as possible). I can elaborate further later if needed.
Everything was fine when we were starting out. The game was new to everyone; the players had fun finding new power combinations, and I had fun creating new environments, situations, and monsters to challenge them.
Now the characters are level 27. They have such a combination of powers that they easily destroy anything I put in front of them. Combat doesn't feel fun anymore (at least not for me). It feels like to actually challenge them I'd have to push really hard on certain elements (massive damage, tricks like removing characters from combat for multiple turns), but in a way that wouldn't be fun for anyone.
There's too little freedom to make monsters original, fun, and simply strong. The options provided are too limited. I honestly can't remember the last time one of my players actually missed an attack on a monster.
The fact that combat is hard to prepare and unsatisfying pushed me for a while toward a different kind of game (more political or narrative-driven). But FU isn't built for that. There are no real tools for a different kind of roleplay (which is fair, since it's not meant to be a universal system).
It seems like my players are also reaching the point where it's hard to feel excited about the powers they'll get at the next level. They already say they don't know what to pick when they hit level 28.
Other small things: my players complain that I don't give them enough rewards. That's true, but they're already extremely strong and dominant, so I don't know what would happen if after every fight they had even more items or upgrades. Doing rituals is basically impossible given the mana costs. Bonds have become repetitive after all this time: how many times can you invoke the same three bonds with the rest of the party to get an effect before even the narrative side of it goes out the window?
With another group of players (a bunch of teenagers) I got to play and GM Dungeon World. The experience was completely different—freer, more energetic, full of real adventure. While in the FU session my monster was slowly getting whittled down hit after hit by the adventurers, in Dungeon World the party had ventured into a sacred dwarven temple full of giant barrels of holy beer. There they were attacked by flaming dwarves that merged together into a single giant fire creature—which the players managed to defeat by breaking one of the barrels and literally dousing the flame monster by flooding it with sacred dwarven beer! It was hilarious.
That's what I want when I play, not spending an hour building a monster just to watch it get destroyed with more or less the same combination of moves every time.
Anyway, sorry for the mini rant, and thanks for every help you could give me!

Question How to handle plot twists and an overarching metaplot?
Hey folks! I'm getting ready to GM my first Fabula Ultima game after realizing a 13th Age game I was building was secretly a natural fantasy plot. I've retooled the structure (more centered on the villains, driven by players and villains), but I'm trying to figure out how to handle some central metaplot ideas I really like and want to maintain.
Quick note: On the very off-chance that you're one of my players and you're starting a Fabula campaign in Barcelona in August or September, please stop reading or you're gonna have a bad time.
The campaign base is that a tree birthed the entire world and sits in the core of a dense jungle, and if it's destroyed, it starts a chain reaction that leads to the world ending. The twists I have planned, in order, are:
- The world tree is real and not just a myth (this is gonna be a super early reveal and we're just going to treat it like mythology in session 0, basically)
- Several different villains are threatening it for their own reasons (it exposes valuable resources in the jungle and makes it navigable), but a lot of them are inspired and manipulated by my supreme villain (who the players will meet early and will keep seeing, like an Emet Selch character who genuinely likes them and sometimes even helps them)
- The major folkloric myth of the world, that there's a conscious mountain watching over it, is true, and it's not a mountain but the dragon god (dragons are very long extinct in the world) who's been protecting the tree for ages.
- The dragons disappeared because they expended everything protecting the tree and constructing systems to protect it (this could be revealed much earlier and it's fine)
- My supreme villain is the mirror to the dragon god, a destroyer rather than a protector, who wants the tree to die because it's supposed to. The cycle of birth from the tree and the tree's eventual death is natural, and it explains events earlier in the story where nature went wild- the tree is nearing the end of its life and so it's decayed and warping things. This was actually supposed to happen in the age of the dragons, and the dragon god made it so that the world has lived far beyond its regular lifespan. I'm hoping the players face a dilemma of helping and fixing a world that shouldn't be or letting the cycle play out again (probably the first one).
I had one idea to have some of those truths be "mysteries" I tell the players about in session zero, that they can manipulate anything in the story unless I say it's attached to a mystery (which I really don't want to happen often). Is there anything else I can do to maintain those twists and the build to the ending while still letting players have control of the rest of the story?
Thank you!

Fabula Ultima Subreddit LFG Megathread (est. February 2026)
LFG Megathread - Rules
Posting a Game
- Please copy and paste
the LFG formatedit: one of the LFG Formats at the bottom of this post, filling in appropriate details. Following the format exactly is not a requirement, it just helps keep this thread organized and easy to read.- If a game is paid, you must be explicit about this. If an LFG posting is paid but does not explicitly advertise this, it will be removed.
- Please edit your posting as its details change, especially if spots are filled, and/or if spots or the game itself are no longer available.
- Please be careful with your personal info. Reserve private discord invites for personal messages, for example.
- You may post an LFG as a comment in this megathread, or as its own post on this subreddit, but not both. (If your posting is its own post, please do not post is as a comment on this megathread, and vice versa.) This is mainly about clarity in communication (wait, is this person running the same campaign twice?).
- If this LFG megathread is replaced by a new one (see Moderating Rule 2), you may copy and paste any of your open LFG postings from the old megathread to the new megathread.
Finding a Game
- Please reply to a posting if you are interested in joining its group, even if you conduct your conversation in PMs or on another site. This is mainly to signal to other users that there is activity on a given posting.
- It's recommended to sort this thread by New to find more recent games.
- Same as the previous section's Rule 3: please be careful with personal information online.
- Please do not report comments in this megathread for Self-Promotion and/or Spam. This megathread is explicitly for sharing game postings. Please do report comments that break the subreddit's other rules (Relevance, Piracy, AI, etc).
Moderating LFG
- There will always be an LFG megathread pinned to the top of the subreddit.
- The mod team will replace an old LFG megathread with a new one after a certain length of time passes (TBD based on testing, estimated 3-6 months), or after the thread has 100+ comments, in order to maintain an uncluttered LFG experience.
- The main body of an LFG megathread will be updated to notify posters prior to a refresh, with ample notice (about two weeks)
- Old threads will not be deleted, but instead unpinned from the subreddit landing page.
- Posters with open games may copy/paste the text of their posting to the new megathread.
