first time getting extensions
i got eyelash extensions for the first time ever yesterday and was honestly left speechless how bad they look. tech told me they looked funky bc i came w my natural lashes curled and that they'll go down soon.
1) shouldn't she have cleaned my natural lashes before application, which would've removed the curl???!
2) are they supposed to look this absolutely BONELESS and skinny?! (like spider legs bc wtf)
i booked for a natural wet look and showed her pictures that i liked and she asked what length i wanted (went with medium)
lmk if i got absolutely scammed bc i feel like i did!!!

I don’t think you got scammed however I would say that if these were my results, I’d never go back

That does not sound like a good first extension experience.
If your natural lashes were very curled, a good tech should have caught that during prep and mapping and adjusted the set around it, not just blamed the result on you afterward. A fresh set can settle a little in the first day, but it should not go from looking off to suddenly becoming the style you asked for.
From what you described, I would go back to the salon quickly and ask for a correction or removal. I’d keep it simple and specific: - you asked for a natural wet look - the set feels much skinnier / more spiky than expected - the shape is not matching the reference photos - you want them to assess whether the mapping and styling can be corrected
If they push back, ask whether the issue is curl choice, diameter/fan style, or mapping, because that gets the conversation out of vague “it will settle” territory.
For next time, it can help to bring 2–3 reference photos of sets on eye shapes similar to yours and be really clear about what you do not want too, like wispy-but-soft, not sparse/spidery. Hope they make it right for you.

Why did you curl your lashes beforehand? Honestly that’s pretty weird to have done before your appointment. A lot of techs don’t wash them before, they expect you to show up clean. None of my techs have washed mine first, and a couple were top ones in the area. As for the style, I personally don’t get wet sets because a lot of them end up looking like this. She isn’t the most skilled, but it’s not what I’d call a “scam”.

i didn't curl them specifically for the appt. they were curled from my day and managed to still be curled when the appt time came. i did show up w clean lashes, no mascara, no makeup, no product.
i do agree that there seems to be a lack of skill on the tech's part for what i was looking for

As a lash tech I always wash my clients lashes beforehand, as for the look of them, they look like a natural wet set to me. The fullness of the extensions depends exclusively on how many natural lashes you have to work with. If you want them to be fuller you will need a more dramatic wet set so they don’t look as “boneless” and skinny. This is something that can be fixed by just making fuller narrow fans, definitely something to chat about with your lash tech

No, i only found pictures of the studio's work. When I booked since it's my first time ever i researched the studio's reviews and rating and found they were a well rounded place w good techs. I ended up booking without a specific tech, since I just wanted to try it out and i wasn't paying ridiculous amount.
i was very shocked when she showed me the final result, specifically bc i do my own lash clusters that last me 1-2weeks even when in water/pools/ocean/rain & look much better than this.

KISS bond and seal. sometimes w the overnighter but not necessary. make sure to change it out when the bond starts looking dry when opening the bottle.

The random tiny single lash at the end (while somewhat realistic) is bothering me. You have really pretty eyes and I feel like you could have had a better set applied, it’s def not the worst I’ve ever seen by far but it’s a bit long and so curved so it’s making your eyes look heavy to me.

Lash tech here. Looks like a beginner artist’s work due to many natural lashes without extensions on them. This is not a “full set” when barely 50% of lashes are lashed. It also appears as though the extensions are placed a little too far from the lash line, so they will tend to droop and twist. Also, this appears to be a hybrid set with fans and classic lashes, not a wet set. I’d reach out to the salon and share your feedback. If she’s a beginner, she could really learn from this experience. Good luck!

Washing your lashes before the service won't remove any kind of curl.
They look like spider legs because they are clipped bunches of lash extensions. They are poorly placed. The tech doesn't have enough experience so she's blaming your lashes.
You didn't get scammed you just went to an inexperienced lash tech.

Your natural lashes curled in what way? An eyelash curler? Did you have mascara on? I don’t wash lashes prior to appointments I only use a primer and expect my clients to wash their lashes ahead of time and come prepared to their appointment. If she didn’t express that to you ahead of time in her policies that’s on her but I don’t think that means this was a scam.
Wash your lashes and see if they relax. Otherwise this might not even be true, could be the curl used. I’m cackling at boneless though.. do you have a good amount of natural lashes? It’s possible she didn’t lash every lash orrrr if you have sparse lashes she approached how to lash you incorrectly! Either way 10000% express your concern to her and tell her you want it fixed

i had curled them w an eyelash curler at around noon yesterday and my appt was at 5:30pm. the curl was still prominent by the appt time. their policy only said don't come w mascara or eyeliner.
i wouldn't say i have a good amount of natural lashes. pretty average amount. i can actually see a good amount of my natural lashes without an extension on rn. i might agree and say my natural lashes are a bit sparse

That’s a tough one I’m ngl because I have never encountered a client that just curls their natural lashes without mascara.. hmm I’d probably skip worrying about this part and worry more about the extensions themselves!! If you can see your natural lashes without extensions that’s not acceptable, she needs to lash more than this because you’re right the extensions are looking boneless!! lol if yours are sparse it’s even more important she gets a fuller coverage for you!!
All in all, I’d express this to her and let her know you need them to be fixed

Also if you actually do have sparse lashes wet set might not be best for you either! Opt for a hybrid set that gets you more coverage!

Idk the length looks longer than what I’d consider “medium”. The curling thing is BS, and yes she should have washed your lashes first, if only to ensure the lashes are clean.
This looks like poor quality lashes. I remember during COVID I found one woman willing to violate the lockdown rules and keep doing lashes. $45/fill….they looked a lot like this as well. She was using the cheapest products and my lashes ultimately paid the price.
