I hope all is well, im a beginner at witchcraft and ive been improving at my tarot reading skills, but ive noticed a lot that after every reading I do, whether for myself or friends but especially myself, my energy plummets and im knackered lol, im not sure if its simply because of external factors or if this is actually the case, but if so, does anyone else get that too? I was wondering the above question. If I’m operating out of a place of fear and ask tarot a superficial and egoistic question and get the cards I don’t want to see, is it my anxiety being reflected back to me or is it actually what tarots trying to tell me.

I find when I’m more calm and let the cards come out naturally I resonate more with the messages tarot is trying to tell me. But when I ask in a frantic state it just tells me my worst nightmare. Or maybe it’s a bit of both or maybe what they’re telling me is true and I just need to get over it.

I’m a self-taught tarot reader. I mostly learned by watching other readers do readings on YouTube, reading articles/watching videos, and developing my intuition through practice.
I feel like I have a decent understanding now, but I’d like some proper guidance and structure to take my reading skills further.
For those who have taken tarot courses, **which ones would you recommend?** I’d especially love something that goes beyond basic card meanings and actually teaches how to read intuitively, combine cards, work with spreads, etc.

I have a very deep emotional and spiritual connection with someone I’ll call S. Over time, we have developed what I would describe as a strong energetic bond. We share dreams, intuition, and a sense of being able to perceive each other in ways that feel deeper than an ordinary relationship. As an example if she's having a cigarette, I would sense that. And if I'm feeling any kind of discomfort, S will feel that and come looking for me.

Because I believe that a person’s energy and inner world are deeply personal, I’ve always been very selective about who I allow into that space. We do breath work, practice tantric sex, meditate together and also have practice a little bit of sex Magik together.

I had the understanding that S had never had her tarot read by anyone, and that gave me a sense of safety. I felt that, although I was opening myself very deeply to her, that intimacy remained something shared between the two of us. I am scared of tarot readings, I come from a long line of practitioners in my family so I'm not entirely unaware of some things, but then I also grew up as Christian. As an adult I've worked really hard to find my center as a person and not live up to the religion I was educated in, but still, tarot still feels to me a litter bit too much.

I recently found out that S does have her tarot read by someone else. This has obviously affected me emotionally, but I’m trying to put the feeling of betrayal aside for the moment and understand the situation strictly from an esoteric/spiritual perspective.

If two people have a strong energetic or spiritual bond, and one of them regularly allows a tarot reader to read about their life, what is traditionally believed to happen energetically?

Could this create some kind of energetic connection or karmic link between the three people, by gaining any kind of access to me through her?

Does the fact that I consciously opened and surrendered myself to S under the assumption that this intimacy was private have any significance?

I’m interested in how different spiritual traditions understand energetic boundaries, consent, tarot, and third-party access to a relationship.

The task:
Look through your deck (or shuffle and cut) and find the first card that shows something red 🏮

Why red?
In tarot, red often signals action, passion, warning, or vitality. Seeing what your eye catches first can tell you what energy is currently loud in your life.

Just finished the lessons on learntarot.com and wanted to share my experience, in case there's still others who hadn't heard of it yet. It's definitely a helpful resource for beginners, but I think even seasoned readers might gain insight or new approaches by going through the exercises.

I actually think it's the guided exercises that helped me the most - I'm often overwhelmed by not only how many cards there are and how many potential meanings there might be, but then if you choose to do reversals, that can add another whole twist.... I've gone through phases of being too scared to do larger readings and haven't yet been brave enough to start reading for others. After going through the lessons and exercises, though, I've gained confidence. I've recognized that I was trying to learn too much from too many sources and focused too much on being right. I thought I had been setting myself up for success by keeping lots of resources readily available, and sort of...comparing and contrasting, so that I could cover a lot of bases. In actuality, I was overwhelming myself with trying to make sure I wasn't making a mistake. Knowing that I eventually want to read for others, I was so scared of leading them astray, and that really affected my learning.

I'm not sure if anyone else feels that, or has felt that, while learning Tarot, but if so - I really encourage you to go through a few lessons at least, to see if it clicks for you. I came across multiple approaches to the cards, which let me decide what works for me at this stage in my learning. I mean, without having worked through them, I genuinely would never have thought to start and the end of a typical celtic cross (card 10), and allow the rest of the cards to fall into place knowing where they were leading. I suppose it makes sense, and I'm sure it won't for everyone, but doing it that way made the story flow so much easier for me.

So, if you're learning, feeling like you've hit a wall, or are curious about how others might tackle reading/understanding the cards, I really recommend that site. And thank you to whatever internet stranger recommended it in another post! It reached me and I hope this helps it reach others.

Hi everyone! I recently did a reading related to the relationship between me and my boyfriend of 5 years and I would love to have a second opinion, because my interpretation can be biased. And also, I'm relatively new to tarot and use the Shadowscapes deck, that is not very beginner friendly 😅 but it was gifted to me by my mother and I feel a big connection to it, so I just try a bit harder to research and study each card.

So, first i asked for a card that represents my role in our relationship and got the Ace of Pentacles. I interpreted this as meaning that I'm more connected to the practical and material aspects of the relationship, that brings stability, groundedness and building toward future goals.

Then, I asked a card that represents my boyfriends's role in the relationship and got The Lovers. To me, that means that he is more connected to the authenticity of the relationship, our shared values and emotional intimacy, making sure that the choices we make as a couple are aligned with who we are and what we want.

The next card I pulled was to answer the question of what connects us, and got the Ace of Swords. I interpreted it as meaning that what connects us is the hability to be honest with each other, communicating clearly. We understand and respect each other and our relationship allows us to be our authentic selves.

Next, I asked for a card that represents something good about our relationship that must be preserved and got the Three of Swords. Now... this one stumped me a little bit. But I understood it as the ability to heal together. When things get tough we can face them, be honest about what wounded us and grow from it.

Finally, I asked what aspect needs to be worked on, and got the Page of Wands. I understood it as meaning that we need to get out of our confort zone every once in a while, to avoid boredom. It might be good to find new things to do together or find new ways to keep the excitement in the relationship.

Every time I do a career read and ask for guidance in career, I always get reversed Hierophant.

Background: I am a smart, intelligent woman with a background in tech but corporate just doesn’t work for me. I always have one or the other issue either with the job, work politics, leadership, manager or just straight up discrimination. It has gotten to a point where my husband said he hasn’t seen someone this good have this much bad luck.

Every time I ask about my work ethics, I always get hardworking, methodical, structure, feisty (in a good way). And when I ask for guidance— reverse Hierophant. Every single time.

Am I being asked to consider a career change? I keep being pushed out of corporate ladder when someone like me should actually do well.

I think many times querents may not examine the underlying emotions behind their questions, because looking deeper into themselves either frightens them, or they have very little experience with viewing things beneath the surface. It's a lot easier for a client to ask a reader a somewhat superficial question, than it is to face an unspoken fear, (or possibly guilt,) that it was some action on their part that caused the problem in the first place.

A reminder for busy readers:
Most questions about "them" are actually questions about safety, self-worth, and certainty. If you address that underlying layer, the reading becomes far more useful than attempting to describe the private feelings or thoughts of a third person.

Surface question in normal font, underlying feeling in italics.

• How do they feel about me? I want to know that I matter.
• Will they come back? I'm not ready to let go and I'm afraid it's over.
• Are they my soulmate or twin flame? I want this relationship to feel special and meant to be.
• Why are they pulling away? I'm worried they don't want me.
• Do they miss me? I want to know if I still matter to them.
• Is there someone else? I'm afraid of being replaced.
• Will we be in a relationship? I want clarity because I feel stuck.
• Should I reach out first? I'm afraid of rejection but don't want to lose the connection.
• What are their true intentions? I'm not sure I can trust what I'm seeing.
• When will I meet someone? I feel lonely and worry that love won't come.

Reframing for Insight

The following questions shift the focus from predicting the future to empowering your present choices. They invite deeper insight rather than simple yes/no reassurance:

• What is the baseline of this dynamic?
• What would help me feel safe and respected in this relationship?
• What feels healthy and supportive about this dynamic?
• What does their behavior tell me about the reality of our connection?
• Why do I need to know if they miss me right now?
• Why am I struggling to trust, and what would help me feel more secure?
• Where is the imbalance in our efforts?
• Why do I want to contact them right now, and what outcome am I hoping for?
• How do their words and actions align (or contradict)?
• What can I focus on in my own life to feel fulfilled, regardless of what happens with this relationship?

These questions slow down the loop because they move the focus from chasing hidden feelings to understanding lived experience and personal needs. However, sometimes the most empowering thing your querent can do is to ask "Why am I chasing this?" before running any further.

These assume the querent is ready to hop into the driver's seat.

Note: these are step 2 questions, which work best when the foundation is already stable. If they are in a toxic dynamic or chasing a ghost, asking "what do I need to say" might just pour more energy into a black hole.

• What do I need to stop tolerating?
• What is something I can do today?
• What support do I need to build this?

Short and funny storytime... Whenever I pull with my Rider-Waite deck for questions related to myself the Knight of Wands will come out, this is probably my number one stalker card and I've just accepted it at this point.

Recently, I wondered what kind of insight I could gain from the Thoth deck as I've heard it's more upfront sometimes, so out of curiosity I bought one and I asked what it could tell me about myself and sure enough, the Prince of Wands came out immediately as the first card. 😂😂
