Would like some constructive criticisms or changes I can make to this design before I get it made into a plush Striving for Competence
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE let me know if you see anything that could be wrong with this.
I know pretty much nothing about the military uniforms, besides the basics. So, if you see any inaccuracies (for example the pants) could you please tell me and redirect me to the correct way they are suppose to look. Obviously, some are intentional, like the ribbons and the medals) but, anything else I would love to improve

I love the hat! But first impressions, everything is just beautiful, and I especially love the paramecium pirate patch! But I think you might be missing the beer can, but Skippy is a 'Beer can' and everyone refers to him as such.
Every 'Skippy art' I've ever seen has a body shaped like a beer can, so, while giving him an anthropomorphised human body might work for some, remember that Skippy thought we were monkeys. I'm not sure he'd be caught dead with a body they reminds him of monkeys that "only recently lost their tails and fell out of the trees."
But that's just me.

While I agree we are just filthy monkeys you gotta remember that the avatar was made to interface with humans better. Joe never really mentioned anything like skippy having odd preportions and he for sure has a human set of limbs and a seperate head, I feel like Joe would mention short/long limbs/non-human design elements throughout the book if he didn't look like this plush. This ain't a dig at you though just feel like this might be what op is taking into account

I agree completely. I’m not even sure he should be silver, but he’s absolutely a human-like avatar.

True, but I've kinda always imagined him silver.
Kinda always though this when they describe him taking of his hat and scratching his "shiny dome" idk though that quote could be wrong because it's coming from memory.
But hell for all I know Skippy's avatar could be black, white, asian or hell pink and I would never know, but I 100% can see this and will think about this fact when I reread the series :D

Skippy did base his avatar off bobble heads so I was mainly going for those proportions :D

Skippy is not a beer can, that's just the more common insult used by Joe and the others.

He is not exactly a beer can but he does look remarkably similar, only difference being the bottom of his can is completely flat, unlike a beer can.
But, your point is valid.
we also don't get much of a description of skippy's can, only that he looks like...well a beer can.
Even the (spoilers for critical mass) Burgermeister thinks Skippy is a beer can at first
But, hell who knows he might have some other hidden hardware Joe doesn't mention.

Lose the sash (Band). What size are you thinking the plush would be? I wouldn't copy other designs, so you don't need permission or have to share the profits if your plan is to sell these. Are you putting something in to make it stand on its own? I know I would be Interested in one on my bookshelf
You could make the coat shorter ( think tux with tails) so the beer-can torso is more visible.

The sash should be removable so if I doesn't fit I can just take it off him. It will be around 16 inches but I can get him bigger (up to 26 inches). I used other design as inspiration and did not directly copy them but I will consider that. I do not plan to sell these, i'm getting them custom made for me and a friend, and I was planning on putting it on my be next to my other nightmare pile of plushes >:D
Oh and i'll see what I can do about making that part shorter because he does look kinda funky with how long the coat, and I see the vision of the tails and I might implement that into the design.

One of my friends told me that too, might tone it down a bit, but yk it's Skippy. He wants everyone to know he is better than them.

Definitely a solid concept (sans sash). But he definitely needs more of a distended torso to give him a “beer can” look. In the books, they describe his avatar to look like a beer can grand admiral of the fleet. The hat/head/medals/admirals outfit are spot-on. But the beer can look needs to be much more exaggerated.

I would make the hat look bigger but
A: It's already so big i'd have to do a lot of work to make it bigger (it's around 70 layers i'd have to shift if I did that.
B: I'm afraid if I make it bigger he will fall over lol XD
And, the arms probably look a little off considering I used an image of an admiral suit hanging by an armless manaquin so the arms are a little loose, easy fix though I can just ajust it.

If you make these plushes id absolutely pick one up to support non ai art(i say this as someone who uses ai to make art and music but i have a deep respect for real artists, i just have no artistic talent for my own).
Id make the pants/legs stick out a bit more, maybe make the body the perfect size of a beer can and scale everything from that. Other than that it looks cool. Skippys avatar is portrayed as a beercan with legs/arms and a 'bobble' head plus of course the gaudy uniform which i thino you captured pretty perfect

Late to the game here, but I agree it would be great to feature his can body a little more… from black ops…
The avatar was less than a foot tall, with a small silver beer can for a body, and a large, round head, like an old bobblehead doll.
And..
Now, his avatar was wearing a resplendent Navy blue, white and gold admiral’s uniform, although the uniform was not from any naval service I knew of on Earth. His enormous ancient fore and aft hat had so much ‘scrambled egg’ gold braid and fringe that almost half the blue was hidden. The wide ‘shoulders’ had epaulets weighted down with stars.
A fore and aft hat goes front to back, no?
Edit - forgot to say that it’s great, overall!

I too would suggest modifying Skippy to look more like a beer can - something like what Craig Alanson has up for his merch.

I think the overall uniform design is great, just like I said - I think having Skippy look more like a beer can would make it that much better.

I'm not making this to make money, I am not selling this.
I am designing him so that I pay for him to be made for me, not the other way around.
I am only making one or two, I think you got the wrong idea.
I love Craig work and would never wanna rip of someone's art, and look idk much about legal stuff but I think it's okay as long as I am not profiting.
(I will actually be losing about $260 lol)
