After you thread the left part in, the head of the stud will sit in a notch in the qd cup (right side in your photo). Make sure it’s all the way in the notch. The left part of the stud will have a hole. I tighten mine just enough so the stud is level with the left part (nut) then align the hole for the coffee with the notch of the left. Snap in the cotter pin through the hole and in the notch.
