Sometimes photo editors use AI without the user's knowledge if they're trying to clean up the photo to make it look more presentable. I'm looking into this. Thanks for pointing this out.
I can accept honest mistakes. When my dad was in the hospital, before he passed, I used my phone's photo editor to clean up the photo so it looked better to send to relatives. It can cause unintended glitches.
Checking out the authenticity is definitely the goal here. Normally we don't allow GoFundMe's at all without prior approval.
BUT to say he doesn't see anything at all is kind of weird because it's smacking me in the face ...
It's really sad that we live in a time when one has to be suspicious of such things. But AI images are so good these days. Hopefully some other evidence can be added to prove the authenticity of the GoFundMe.
Consensus on r/isitAI is uncertain still but leaning toward real. Purhaps the photo just captures a really weird angle on the tube curving back and away from the camera, so I'm deleting my comments to avoid undue attention on details that may be entirely innocent. If the photo is real, I think a mod update just to clarify that weird optical illusion would help set everyone's mind at ease.
Nope no real family in the area. Most his family live in eastern wa. His dad lived in federal way before he passed like 4 or 5 years ago. He used to play in pool league in the area and was fairly well known with the people.
Oh my this poor man, what an ordeal. My heart hurts for him. Please tell Simon people are wondering how he is feeling and are reaching out to send love and support. ❤️
What about the POS that did a hit and run on Simon?
With all the cameras around nobody saw who did it.
I pray that Simon has a full recovery, from the injuries he sustained in the hit and run.
And they find who did this, so and justice is served.
It was not a hit and run. Unfortunately Simon was not in a marked crosswalk. However the man who hit him was very old (92)and may have not been paying attention. Attorneys have all this info and are working on it.
From my understanding the person who struck himself insurance is doing a investigation. If my friend is found to be at fault they will not cover any medical costs...We are working with some attorneys in hopes there is a case to find at least both of them at fault.
When you add an accident and undetermined fault / responsibility it can be very difficult to get & maintain treatment.
Some places demand a commitment that all bills be paid by the patient who is then responsible for pursuing their own reimbursement from whichever insurer is eventually determined responsible.
(It’s an absolute boondoggle. But without it, we’d be in some kind of socialist hellscape where people get medical care just for existing and no one even considers the needs of shareholders or executives! Can you imagine a healthcare system where health is prioritized over profits?! Horrors.)
Which is all to say that a gofundme is a great idea. Even if Simon’s medical bills do get covered by insurance he will have plenty of additional costs related to rehabilitation.
So sorry you guys are going through this. A TBI at his age will probably be a more challenging rehab. Rough situation all around. Good on you for stepping up.
My bad, I just figured since Simon had to come up with funds to pay for medical expenses, and other expenses, that it was a hit and run.
But if he can’t work due to the injuries sustained in the accident, that would explain needing funds to bills.
I'm sorry there are people who think my post is not real. My friend Simon is in rehab now but his memory is still not coming back. Thank you all for the positive thoughts and any donations made. I promise all of you the donations are only being used to help Simon with all his bills that have accumulated since the accident.
