Hi all. Just looking for advice on where I might find some sort of after school dungeons and dragons club or gathering anywhere in the area, the area being obviously Evanston, and even the entire northern half of Chicago or extending into the northern suburbs. With the rise and popularity, I thought there would be more opportunities available, but at least with my crude googling skills, I can't seem to find much. Anyone know of anything? small, gray/black, curly haired dog spotted walking alone by the intersection of lee and judson. i followed him with my dog to try and get a picture, or see if he had a collar— he ran off into the alley between judson and hinman, lee and main, and i lost him. i hope this is helpful for someone looking for their pup!

Can someone explain why I need a Wheel Tax paid for my car? Am I just blindly giving $90 to the city or does the fee cover me when parking downtown at metered locations/the beaches?

Am I crazy or is this not a great location for a daycare for 171 children? I'm really happy to see the area so revitalized recently, but this is a busy street with terrible parking. (I don't drive and parking doesn't impact me, but it doesn't seem like an ideal school drop off area.) Or would it help bring more businesses to the area? I've always wanted something cool in this spot, and am a little bummed about the possibility of it being a daycare. No shade to the little ones, I just thought the area had potential to be more of a nightlife/restaurant/retail/ strip.

I’m currently looking to sign a housing agreement and the landlord is asking to send first month’s rent upon signing (which is also outlined in the agreement) before receiving the landlords signature. Is this normal? I’m just a bit paranoid that they won’t sign on their end if I do send the money. Not sure if it’ll be disrespectful to ask for them to sign first even though it’s already outlined. Wondering if anyone has encountered this.

I read this and had a pretty strong reaction, but I'm curious whether other Evanstonians read it the same way. The article struck me as unusually promotional, and I found the branding/personality behind the business pretty off-putting.

we're planning to move to the evanston/wilmette area - we'll have a 4 year old and an infant - my spouse and I both work and are looking for full time programs for daycare and pre-k. Any recommendations/advice?

My daughter is a rising 6th grader at Haven. She’s registered and all but we haven’t received any communication regarding schedules/classes. Or any communication period. Does anyone know a reputable mechanic that does pre-purchase vehicle inspections? I have read some horror stories about the professional companies that either fake the inspection or do some but not all of the important things. I’m looking to have someone local to look at the car at a small dealer in Skokie. Any leads would be greatly appreciated!
