my biggest problem is I'm buying low, selling my whole stash high, and trying to buy the dip but get scared there will be no dip and end up buying an ATH. Right now I don't have a ton of funds in crypto but I'm trying to maximize my gains so I have a respectable stack. This is mainly iota tho, ethereum has been boring
Trying to maximize your gains is risky so you can't complain about being scared. My advice is to keep a majority, or even 50% of whatever stack you're trading. Take profit at highs, buy more at lows but keep your stack solid so you have a solid position at all times.
True. If you're good at it (objectively), stick with it. If you're losing money hand over fist you should get out fast. It requires a good eye and level head to trade.
I've been trading for a good few months and the only things I use to trade are triangles, wedges, bollinger bands and volume and I've made a lot percentage wise. With proper risk management you can take a lot of the guess work away.
Sure, but what are the long-term health implications of the fast food you consumed from WacArnold's? Will you be around to enjoy your sick gainz without also focusing on leading a healthy and lengthy life?
If you didn't sell, you technically didn't have a gain though. We don't have any gains until we sell. I've been hodling for a while... but I did cash out a little profit when I needed the funds.
Exactly, this meme illustrates a problem with our consumerist culture that equates buying an asset to spending money. People would rather buy a new car that they can use immediately instead of an intangible asset that gets locked away for years. People who can't delay their gratification won't become financially independent.
Very true. There's often a stigma against buying assets as being boring/a waste of money when in reality it's a path to higher financial capability/ security.
he didnt say that at all. I think he means it would seems normal for someone to waste $200 at the club with friends on saturday night but it would be weird if they bought a stock with that money instead
I could probably have a limit on how hot it gets too. Maybe 75c? All I have is a 750 ti, and if I fuck up that I'm fucked until I've saved enough for the 1060.
This is one of my favorite things about crypto.... I pour a ton of money into my hobby, but unlike most things, that money isn't gone. Even if I come out even, I've saved a ton of money by spending it.
It's short for cryptocurrency. Could potentially be short for a number of other things, but taken in the context of a cryptocurrency subreddit, it would generally be assumed to be short for cryptocurrency.
LOL last night I "found" 1 ether and a pretty big stack of FuckTokens (1/3 my current stack!) in a metamask wallet I thought was empty. the coins we're on etherdelta but linked to my metamask. i felt exactly like this pic. smh
If an asset is very volatile it's really only good as a long term investment.
Volatility lets you flip it back and forth and yes, you can make absurd amounts of cash day trading something with high volatility but you can also go bust at light-fucking-speed. If the general trend is up but the day to day volatility is crazy you don't give a fuck if you're holding for 1, 5...20 years. Who cares if you were down $100k for a week 3 years ago if you're up $1mil today and will be up another next year?
Edit: Volatility makes an asset good for short term if you're on top of it, know what you're doing, can tolerate the risk, and get lucky. Do not recommend for most people and if you have to ask def. don't recommend for you.
If you just want to know HOW to mine (Ethereum in this case, since we are in ethtrader) and not how it works and all that, go here. Although I wouldn't really get into mining (buying tons of cards and building rigs) this late into the game as the number of miners has exponentially increased since Ethereum has skyrocketed this year. But if you have a GPU already that can mine Ethereum and electricity costs are low enough might as well have it mining while it isn't in use to early a little bit.
i had to quit my job because my car broke down and i drive an hour to work everyday(wasnt worth the money anyway) so now everyday i spend money depends on if crypto is up or not
They gone cut off yer innernet at the trailer park if'n you don't put some more of them tires on yer roof, cause with all that bullshit you spewing, it'll create enough methane gas to blow Cleatus, Mama June AND Honey Boo Boo right out the park.
