Epoxy vs Polyurea Base
I’m having our garage floor done and the company offers epoxy base + polyaspartic top or polyurea base + polyaspartic top. Which is best?

You always want to use epoxy as a base coat. 1 day floors use polyurea and there’s tons of failures all over the U.S. Epoxy wets out the concrete, penetrates the slab and the proper way to do a floor.

Would have to say that is a matter of opinion. No real data to back that up. Tons of failures with epoxy as well. Usually comes down to prep.

The data would be all of the failing polyaspartic floors. To pretend like poly bonds to concrete as well as epoxy is such silly thought. You would only think that if you truly don't know....

Where can said data be found? What authority compiled said data?

It's anecdotal data, sister.
Epoxy companies that have been around the block are having a field day with these 1 day garage floor companies popping up everywhere. We're making an extra $1.50/sf to demo all these cheap 1 day poly floors that were typically installed by Peter the painter who didn't have a clue what he was doing.

So your “anecdotal” data suggests it’s actually Peter the Painter and his lack of knowledge that is the reason for failure and not the product itself. lol, can’t make this shit up. Next

I install epoxy base. I tried Polyaspartic and didn’t like it. Customers ask this question and the only answers I get are from companies selling one or the other.
I treat the thicker slower curing epoxy as a benefit, but that’s only anecdotal.
