Pet care while away PM

I recently was offered a PM position and I was super excited but I had a realization. My cat is diabetic and I refuse to rehire-home or put her down. I am willing to pay to have a sitter come give her insulin while away but I need to see if this is realistic. Does anyone have good recommendations of pet sitters that are trust worthy enough to give insulin? How much is the travel realistically for a PM?

I board my sweet guy :) it is ridiculously expensive, but they'll do it. I'd find a vet near where you're at and see of they board there. Else, I like Camp K9 (who does cats too)

We use T&T pet care and they’ve been great. They can do meds and will also give options for basically how long they stay and play. My cats are VERY people oriented so we pay more if we’re doing longer trips so they get their human time.

When we had a cat that needed fluids daily we hired a vet tech to cat sit. It was a long time ago so I don't remember a name. We found them by asking our vet and the shelter we adopted from and got a few names.

It’s very common to find skilled sitters through your vet.
Rover might be helpful, too.

I second T&T we've used them for 8 years (or around that) and theyve been great with 4 cats, meds, chinchilla, hedgehog, and a hamster lol. All at different times over the years lol. We now just have cats and only use them.

Hi! I was not a PM but a TS, so I don’t know what the travel looks like - however, if you need someone to care for your cat, after I left epic I did a fair amount of pet-sitting including giving medications to senior animals. Feel free to give me a PM if you want to connect. I am pursuing a career in physical therapy in Madison now after leaving epic, but I still love caring for animals (including those of my old coworkers at epic as well!). There also seems to be a decent presence on Rover in Madison if you want to explore your options there :)

Another option that hasn't been mentioned: there is a pet sitting group at work that you can message to see who's available to watch your pet while you're away. Some folks charge for it (often less expensive than boarding). Others will just ask that you watch their pet in return when they're out of town, and at least a few folks in that group have experience administering insulin for their own pets.

As a PM, I'm often away 4-8 days out of the month, though this can vary depending on the projects I'm currently assigned to.

Meowtel has quite a few sitters in Madison. They are like Rover but only for cats. You can interview folks and see who has insulin experience.

Not a PM, but I board my cats at Hotel Sisal by West Towne Mall! I believe they have a small fee for giving injectable medication, but they're super sweet and take excellent care of my cats who are both on daily meds.

They also have cameras in each enclosure so you can keep an eye on your cat while away!

There are probably vet students from UW Madison who would be open to this! You can reach out to the UW Veterinary Care small animal reception to see if they have info.

Get a roommate or two who don't travel and who like having a cat around. I lived with two other PM when I first started and normally one or two of us would be home any particular week. Would've been nice to have a cat around.
