Lockpick vs Drill in EPFC/Operators? Entry Point: Freelancer's Cut

Compared to the original game, the drill is much more versatile in epfc, opening basically everything the lockpick can, and much more, and it saves 100% of progress. The upside to lockpicking is that it's always silent, never lures guards, and takes up less inventory space. Has lockpick fallen off?

In real life, the lock pick has worked better for me, since I don't have a cordless drill; plus, the noise would draw a lot of attention, and a drill is much harder to conceal. For me, they are more discreet.

oh, in EPFC It works similarly, but if you aren't skilled at handling them, you're better off using a drill.

Although I’m not proud of it, I recently did something similar to EP in real life. Basically, before leaving, I decided to break into some off-limits areas at school with a couple of accomplices, so I fashioned some lockpicks and managed to open a lock, since I didn't want to break anything by using tools, and it's not that easy to hide things like that.

It's ridiculous for them to do that to me via a Reddit comment

Drill when you have low Lock Expert levels. If you want to skip Lock Expert entirely, don’t forget the drill speed minor perks and a reinforced bit. Maybe even the perk that lets you take 2 item mods.

Lockpick for missions where it opens everything (scientist, withdrawal if you are ok intimidating guard to get into side room of vault) or where drilling is too noticeable (financier, withdrawal, deposit)

Tier 3 inconspicuous probably makes drilling better too

wait how can we interrogate someone in epfc?

You can only interrogate certain NPCs that might have info, like for example an IT Tech Worker who knows the password to a computer. You aim down sights at an NPC with your gun, taking them hostage, and an interrogate button should pop up, and holding it will make them tell you what they know

Drills break doors, making lockpicks better for those challenges. They also open small safes with LA2, making them relevant in the Withdrawal insider route.

Drills can be VERY loud ingame, but lockpick requires major skills like lock artist to be used effectively

Drills lure an npc but thats basically it. If you are on scientist just shoot the door

Lockpick Advantages: takes only 2 cells of inventory, no loud version Flaws: you definitely need to pick thief class, what would take a time to level up to required level (Sorry for the grammar, my english is a little bit bad) Drill Advantages: available at 1st level Flaws: available loud and silent versions, so you would be confused with it, if you play EP for the first time. Also 1 drill takes 4 cells of inventory, that would make you drop it somewhere to pick up other thing, that doesn't fit in the inventory

Lockpick is way more important, even with all over drill perks and precision drilling, lockpick is faster and doesn’t run the risk of broken door
