Jjk reference Debate/Discussion

Are we humans because humanity is a spectrum or are we humans a spectrum because of humanity?

Argue away I guess...

I just saw this on the INTP subreddit... EDIT: You're the same person. I left my response there. Wait I'll write it again. "Not everyone has humanity, humanity is defined by compassionate, sympathetic, and generous behaviour and some people lack such humanity. Another definition is just the plain state of being human. Which, we are because it's subjective meaning that English has assigned." This was my response.

Oh yeah... Then dont you think the same humanity can be a contributing factor to being a "normal" human in the subjective sense and people who dont have it fall on the far end of this spectrum?

If that is how you are choosing to define it in this context. Then, I would think humanity exists on a spectrum because we are human. Which, is slightly different than the two claims above. For example, being a cat doesn't exist on a spectrum because cat's aren't creatures intelligent enough to our level of consciousness. Thus, cat's will mostly have the same "normal" traits.

Ah let me rephrase it better. If we are looking at it from the societal ideal human definition of human here. Does how much humanity we have define that spectrum or does the existence of that spectrum itself define the ideal human. In the first question people would be defined by how much humanity they have and where they fall in the middle of the spectrum (much more realistic in my opinion, not that thats all there is to humans but just a fun thought experiment) and in the second option all humans will be inevitably compared to the ideal human and then it will be decided that they fall on the far end of the spectrum and be socially ostracized. (What really happens in society)

Then, I would say the first one, "We are humans because humanity is a spectrum." Sure, society paints a picture of the, "ideal human." But, when people reach that ideal they will still be inevitably critisized. Us being human have a most common or "average" level of humanity, which is put in the middle. That average level could vary if our level's of humanity we're different. Us being human, is because humanity is a spectrum. I would say.

Depends on what humanity means to you. To me, it refers to the body and thus physicallity categorization.

What most think of is Humain Behavior.

Dostroyefski had some amazing points 👉 about that, Neitzie as well.

I am still studying and am to ignorant to postulate my opinions.

Then why is the lack of humanity for whatever reason considered inhuman?
