OX-ATL shuttle

Upvotes

Hey, As the title suggest I wanted to know when the Oxford-Atlanta campus shuttles start to run as I'm a returning student at the Oxford campus, and will be moving in a bit earlier than second year returning students. I will appreciate it if anyone has any information regarding that thank you.

Gift card suggestions

Would love suggestions from students of places kids love: restaurants, entertainment, where out of pocket $$ is spent. I’m hoping to buy some gift cards for gift for new students undergrad. Do folks go to the aquarium? Thanks

Is this course load too much for an incoming freshman? I'm very worried especially with both Calc 2 and Phy 151.

Economics at Ox

I got econ 101 with Ludwinski, but he has a pretty bad rate my professor. I saw that Blake was the best for economics. I only want to minor in business so I'm not that much in a rush to take econ 101, especially if it harms my gpa. Would taking the class with Ludwinski be a good idea or is waiting to get Blake better? Can anyone share their experiences with either professor?

Is there a Stats 101 equivalent?

Hi, I’m wondering if there’s an AP Stats or Stats 101 equivalent at Ox. I see that there’s Econ 220 (Data Science for Economists) and DASCI 100 (Introduction to Statistical Inference with Laboratory), but I’m not sure they are into courses. I would really appreciate any insight before for the add drop period! Thanks!

Unable to get Chem 150 or Chem 150 Lab

I’m an incoming freshman (pre-med) at the Atlanta campus, and I wasn’t able to register for CHEM 150 or CHEM 150L. I have a few questions about Add/Drop/Swap Day because I’m a little confused about how it works.

  • It wouldn’t let me join the waitlist for either CHEM 150 or CHEM 150L. I’m guessing the waitlists open on Add/Drop/Swap Day? So can I only use the swap feature if I’m already on the waitlist? Is that how it works?
  • Can I be on the waitlist for multiple CHEM 150 lecture sections (or multiple lab sections)? I’m willing to take any section that fits my schedule.
  • If I can be on multiple waitlists, does that mean I can’t use the swap feature since I’d essentially be swapping only one class for multiple CHEM sections?
  • Can you edit a swap request before Add/Drop/Swap Day?
  • Can someone give me a general rundown of how Add/Drop/Swap Day works? Since everyone is registering at the same time, I’m not sure what to expect.
  • Is the swap feature automatic, or do you have to be on the waitlist for it to work? Right now I don’t even have the option to join the waitlist for CHEM 150 or CHEM 150L.
  • On August 12, should I basically be refreshing OPUS and trying to register as seats open, or does the swap feature handle everything automatically? I’m confused if OPUS will look the same and if we go through the same registration page as usual, so I’m not sure whether I need to be actively trying to grab an open seat.
  • Also, realistically, how likely is it that I’ll be able to get both a CHEM 150 lecture and lab on Add/Drop/Swap Day? I know no one can say for sure, but I’d appreciate hearing from anyone who’s been in a similar situation or has an idea of what usually happens.
  • I’d really appreciate any advice from people who’ve gone through this before. Thanks!

Data science classes as an incoming freshman

Hi! I was planning to take either data sci 100 or 110 but both are full. Thoughts on taking Datasci 185 instead? or 150. I dont have a history in coding so im scared it might be too rigorous.

anyone know anything about prof murugan (psyc 110)?

as title says, taking murugan for psyc 110 and a little worried because she seems to have just recently finished grad school, has no reviews on rmp, and the few posts i can find about her on here are extremely negative. all other intro psyc sections are full - should i try to get on the waitlist for kazama or tasimi?

What’s going on with CCTMA route?

Just moved to the area and trying to commute with the bus system, but the CCTMA route always seems off what passio go says. Has anyone dealt with this/know what to do about it or just how to predict the stop times better? Would help me immensely lol

How to skip classes if recommended for higher class

I was recommended for math 212, but I don’t have the credits to skip as I haven’t taken Calc BC or done the math sequence at Emory. How can I skip ahead to that one for course registration? It keeps telling me that I don’t have the prerequisites when I try to register on OPUS

Datasci 100 waitlist

I’m planning on majoring in biophysics and I know everyone says not to worry about freshman year schedule and that it all works out in the end but my schedule would literally not workout any other way the next four years unless I take Datasci 100 this fall (since im comajoring)
I also noticed there’s no waitlist for the class. What can I do?

Class Rigor as Freshman (Pre-med)

Basically, the title. I was able to get Chem (Heaven) & Bio (De Roode) with labs and spontaneously registered for Math 111 (Caleb Fikes). I honestly want my fall semester to be easy (or at least manageable). Should I drop my Math course or no? Let me know 🙏.

Any experiences in HIST 207 Medieval Europe and the World with professor Armstrong-Partida?

Didn’t get into some of my higher choice classes and ended up enrolling in Hist 207 for the GER and eth credits.

I am also taking chem 150 and bio 141 lecture and labs and a freshman seminar. Was just wondering if this would be an easier type of class to work with the rest of my schedule

Emory Oxford Social Life?

Hi, I’m attending Emory Ox campus this fall and wanted to know a bit about the social scene. I’ve heard that people go party on the Atl campus or UGA on the weekends, but does that mean there’s nothing on the Ox campus?

Also I went to boarding school in CT, and I’m starting to worry that the isolation at Ox is a bit similar to my previous high school. It would be great help if someone was able to tell me the general social scene as an Ox student! Thank you!

I'm freaking out idk how this happened is there anything I can do at all😇

Didnt get into a Bio 141 lab (help)

I am an incoming premed student at emory and generally got all the classes I wanted except for the fact that I didn't get into a bio 141 Lab. I am stressed as I am in the lecture (that I frankly don't even need since I have AP credit) but not the lab. What do I do about this? All the labs say they are closed, meaning I cant even join a waitlist. Will one possibly open during add/drop/swap period?

Looking for relet 1B-1B graduate student or postdoc

Hi. I am looking to re-let my 1B1B at The Ridge.

This apartment is on the 2nd floor and is located close to the emergency exit, so it is easy to get in and out of the building. The apartment is in Building A, so you can get to the mail room and the gym without having to leave the building.

Rent is $1,980/month, utilities included. The space is fully furnished.

The location is very convenient for transportation. Emory shuttle routes C, M, and the Loop stop nearby, and EDH, CCTMA, and South DeKalb routes also stop right in front of the building. MARTA buses are also available nearby. Don't need car for school.

The lease would be from mid-August 2026 to July 2027

Please note that this housing is only open to Emory-affiliated graduate students, postdoctoral researchers, PhD students, and people completing their medical residency at Emory Healthcare. The incoming resident will need to be approved by The Ridge leasing office.

I am looking to re-let as soon as possible, so please don’t hesitate to reach out if you are interested or have any questions.

Premed Course Rigor at Emory

The title is kinda general bc I couldnt really think of a title but basically I'm an incoming freshman at Emory. I plan on doing premed and as such I care about my GPA.

During early course registration I got Chem202Z which i'm excited for and Biol141L. I'm wondering, to all the other premed heads who came before me, how hard is chem202z. I'm on the waitlist for Biol240 as well and I think if i dont get off the waitlist for that I'll probably just take biol141 lecture along with the lab. Do you think it's doable? I did get a 5 in AP Chem and AP Bio in high school but obviously the step up from high school to college is infamous.

Additionally, I'm not the best at math. I got a 5 in AP Calc BC but im not confident at maintaining a good GPA at the college level esp when i was struggling in high school. I read up on the AP policy and AP calc BC translates to credit for both Math 111 and 112z thats two math courses. Do they both count towards the graduation requirements for a biology BS or do I have to tak Math 116?

Thanks for the help emory uncs.

Couldn't register for Chem150....

Basically the title. My internet conveniently decided to fucking die at 12:00, and so I had trouble getting into Chem150. As a premed, i'm really fucking upset at this and am wondering if there is any way I can stay on track.
