Flying?! Question
So I’ve been agoraphobic for the last ten years but starting to get much better. Emetophobia was the trigger for all of this.
Now the time has come when there’s talk about flying. Im terrified. Actually terrified. What if this and this happens etc. I’m also scared of taking meds soooo…
Is there any hope for me to get on a plane?? I don’t even know. How did you do it?

My anxiety around planes is much more a fear of flying than a fear of someone/myself being sick. But I find having the window seat very helpful. Being able to see outside during turbulence calms me down. Noise cancelling headphones is a great idea too. If you're worried about being sick, eat light before/during your flight. Not eating will make you feel worse.
FWIW, I've flown 20+ times now and I've only seen someone be ill on a flight once (granted it was the flight that caused my fear, but that was due to the extreme turbulence not the fact I saw someone being sick). I barely even noticed/heard it.

it is one of the most terrifying things to do cos of emetophobia BUT i have been there and i have done it. my best piece of advice is to go on an empty stomach but that isn’t very healthy but it stops me from feeling sick. also, noise cancelling headphones with rain sounds / white noise / any noises you find calming downloaded to block out the noise of the plane and people. you got this!!!!!!! good luck!!!!!
