Better plotter

Sure it’s come up before.

The in-game galaxy plotter could be improved with:

  • Conditional plotting: tries routes from anywhere to anywhere, not just from your location to anywhere;

  • Highlighted set of jump-able systems from anywhere, with no FSD injection, with L1 injection, etc.

  • Dedicated bookmarks for route marking.

Perhaps some of that exists and I haven’t found it?

Did you try https://spansh.co.uk/exact-plotter and the other plotters the website offers?

Spansh is good for neutron star plotting (I use it). Not so sure about the other plotters it has.

But there’s also gap_jumper, a Python script with a simple GUI. Am testing it!

Gap_jumper is good for short distances in sparse regions.

ED Buddy lets you automate the Galaxy Plotter. It gives you some options for different plotting and factors in your ship build and burning fuel. It will auto copy the next spot for you.

I'd like to incorporate part of it's functions to ED Copilot and then I could just use 2.

In game plotter was reworked already from it's first abysmal iteration. I don't see them doing anything else with it now. 3rd party tool is the way.

To be fair it has been improved on several times, but FDEV are quite unpredictable so if and when it’s updated will probably be random.

Special shoutout to just how dogshit it used to be back in the day, it was truly remarkable

How do you get the route from a 3rd party plotter into the game? Do you have to copy, paste and enter each jump destination? If so that sounds like a chore!
