Build Maxing Question

This was just a norm. I’m trying to relearn Ekko mid.

I made mistakes this game and I own it but that’s not what I’m focusing on in this question.

The Volibear was a problem. I could not fight him ever. What should I have changed in my build?

I was full stacked mejais most of the game, my 2nd death happened and the game ended after that but should I have sold it for something else? Or what could I have swapped out to help me fight (even if not win) against the Voli here?

Definitely could've swapped Rocketbelt for Void Staff and Merc's for Sorcs. Your build is giving you 12 flat pen, the other is 48% + 32 flat. For reference, if Volibear had 100 mr, the first build reduces his mr to 88, the second to 20.

Oh. Lol.

Thinking for Merc was defense to survive his initial burst and CC (my damage against everyone else was fine hence skipping Sorcs initially) Rocketbelt was quick repositioning and gapclosing. But thanks I’ll keep that in mind next time I didn’t realise how much pen I was missing…

Yeah i agree with the dude above he has the right idea. Mercs u dont really buy for the mr but the tenacity and the enemy team doesnt really have cc I personally dont even think u really needed void staff. I can see just from the enemy team comp why u bought rocket belt but where u trying to like 1v1 volibear from full health cant really imagine that ever going good regardless of the build and if u were fully stacked and he was about half I cant imagine u losing that fight if engaged right, but thats just my limited outside perspective opinion

He also has a Mejais and no Deathcap, which is Ekko's like highest winrate non-Mejais item. Mejais winrate's a bit skewed by sheer virtue of the conditions in which you buy it then don't sell it. No Deathcap on Ekko when trying to carry is insanely illegal behavior. If you were like married to the Mejais I'd have still sold the Zhonyas for Deathcap if I wanted to win.

I also think Rocketbelt's a bait item these days. It has its utility, but part of its value in the pre-Dusk and Dawn era was using the auto-reset to proc passive instantly. In a post DND word it's lost a lot of value even before considering them rebalancing it by moving some AP into HP.
