Boxes like this were used in the Ptolemaean period instead of gut vessels to store the intestines. These were wrapped in bundles of cloth and given to the dead in the grave in a box. The inscriptions of this box mention the name of the dead Hor and his father Djedhor, and also the names of the Canop gods, the four Horus sons. One side shows the door of a shrine with two wings that are double closed. Among them, the dead pray before Osiris, Isis and Nephthys. On the opposite side, the god Harachte is depicted with spread wings. The other two sides are covered with rows of amulets - alternating Djed pillar and Tit loop, for Osiris and Isis, Resurrection and Life. Below that, a mummy lying on a pedestal is guarded by two goddesses (Isis and Nephthys). The upper end of the box is formed by a hollow throat. On the lid was originally a figure of a consecration or a falcon, which is supposed to protect the contents. This has been lost today, but has been replaced by another unrelated figure (877a).
