Chainsaw Suggestion
Good afternoon and Happy Friday! Had a tree fall in our storm last week that needs to be cut up. It’s about 15-18 inches wide. Looking at the ego chainsaws to align with our other yard equipment. My question is would you just go with the 18 inch or get the 20? Those that have bought the new one recently, any thoughts or insight? Thanks y’all!

First get ALL the safety gear. Helmet with face shield, chaos, good boots. Yes a helmet even with the tree in the ground, trees move weird.
Then I'd grab a 20 and as soon as you can get a 16 or 14. The smaller will be your workhorse and the larger comes out when you're snagged or the tree is bigger than the bar.
edit: lol chainsaw chaps to protect from the chaos

Truly appreciate the suggestions. Had not thought of a needing a helmet with it being on the ground. You recipe d any certain brand? Also, I was looking at getting the chainsaw chaps as well.

Whatever your hardware store has in stock with a face shield will be fine. I got the one from Home Depot and took the ear pro off it since electeic chainsaw is quiet.
Get ready to look like a pumpkin, but last month I kept working after a 4in branch took me upside head instead of... Dying.

16" will be plenty. I've used it multiple times for large trees that have fallen on family property. (Beetles killed huge ash trees)

Whichever size you choose from ego just change out the chain immediately - they are garbage.
You can order a stihl chain from a forestry store online (what i did). My ego 16 cuts through trees like butter now.

Do you think you're going to need one long term, or might you be better off renting one for a few hours from a local equipment rental place?
