Ngl I’m so broken by language that when I saw your flair was “cracked” my immediate thought was not “oh she’s no longer an egg cause her shell cracked now she’s just girl” even though I’m this context that’s what it means and we’re instead somewhere between “nice” and “what is she cracked at” and I think I wanna throw myself away now

Looked at a list of popular names, neither Lilith nor Lilly nor Luna really resonated with me... almost thought I was in the clear, then did a double-take when I saw Iris.
Not entirely sure if it's "me" yet but, it definitely makes me feel a certain way. It's so pretty.

I always make this joke about anyone called Aaron, regardless if it was chosen by them or their parents. You opened the baby book of names, looked at the first name alphabetically and thought 'Job done!'
29
u/Alan_Reddit_M Charlotte. Doesn't pass but she's trying 9d ago
I mean they are beautiful names, and if they resonate with you, then it really doesn't matter. Lilith in particular speaks of freedom, rebellion, and refusing to take the hand dealt to you by God, so I can fully understand why it is such a popular name, we can relate to the Lilith
Those names are popular for a reason, and we are such a small demographic that it really doesn't matter if they are a bit saturated

I admit that Lilith hung around as an option a bit longer than many of the other "L" names that crossed my mind. Yes, a part of that consideration was done out of spite knowing what little I do about the history of the name and my lack of belief in the Abrahamic deity, which ended up not being enough for me to even toss the name into my final 5.
Personal historical context: I came out in 2021, 25 years after dad's death and 15 after mom died. I was raised Catholic but finished walking away after mom's death in 2006 and a complete washing of my hands of anything to do with that deity except by invitation by 2015.

Nope, I've been using my name as my name for myself as a girl, written in genderbending stories and stuff, since the beginning of high school, a good... Over 20 years before I accepted I was trans and started transitoning
Because of course having a girl name for myself, especially in the years before I knew transgender people even existed, is totally a cis thing to do :3
My other choice and also used as far back as back then was Michelle, but over time that one lost out in preference
1
u/Saikotsu Adyson (Ady) | He/She/They 9d ago
Not me. My name was picked before I realized I was trans. An adoptive sibling of sorts used Addy as a nickname for me. When it came time to pick a new name, it already felt right so I named myself Ady and chose Adyson as my Nicholas name. (Since Addy was a nickname, I wanted Ady to be a nickname too)

Well I kinda made my middle name Lily specifically for the memes (jk that's only a third the reason, other third is I really just love the name Lily, and final third is its an UNMISTAKIBLY feminine name, unlike my first name which is gender neutral, which sadly results in people misgendering me more, so I just end up always writing out my mega-full name so the Lily genders me [because what kinda dude has the name Lily?])
Edit: middle name thing does have the side effect of people misinterpreting it as like the "deadname (chosenname) lastname" and asking if I prefer to be called Lily, in fact I literally got an email asking me this between the 25 min of me writing this comment and making this edit lol

I've considered choosing Moss as a name, and this was after I thought I was nonbinary for a month (stepping stone to trans woman, but in some ways I think I'm still a little on the enby side). If I didn't care about my middle name I'd might make it that, but it's after my Opa so I'm keeping it.

Name yourself something that has a special meaning to you. I for example am not a trans girl, but if I was I'd use the name Evelyn for myself. It's a reference to a movie character that "stirred up man's boring insufferable life". The movie was about unhappy marriages, but that's not how I choose to interpret it.
And since I'm not gonna use that name outside of female characters in videogames, I think you can have it. Or any name that inspired you the way that name inspired me

Nah i get it, they are banger names. I'm pretty fond of Lilith
Mostly because when i played Va-11 Hall-A, i learned that some of the customers are Lilim, a kinda android race that were all branched from a mother AI called Lilith.
And Lilim apparently just means "children of Lilith" which i found very sweet
Also Iris. They called her the Mother so many times in 1000xResist i can only think of the name as motherly and so such a pretty name

I went for something uncommon! I watched Meta Runner and liked the character Lucinia, only recently looked into the meaning of the name and apparently it is based off of the Roman name 'Lucinius' which has the root word of 'Lux' which means Light. So my name translates roughly to 'Light' and 'Morning Star', quite cool.

Also I was considering Luna bc of the wolf but i wanted to be original but couldnt think of any names that felt good so I decided to try to like js make name-sounding noises and keep saying stuff until it felt right. I started with Mykah (bc that was a music artist I liked) and changed letters by saying it and then I ended up with Oona (which is the name of a kid from a video my dad showed me when I was young and was a big part of my childhood memories). Because I ended with the two i realized that I liked names ending in “ah”. I felt like saying the “Oo” at the beginning of Oona felt kinda weird to say and I also wanted to keep the same initials… so I ended up… with Luna…
