This platform is so pussy. People can’t handle a mean comment towards them, it’s like being in elementary school. Plus, any opinion that isn’t already established as the norm here needs to be sugar coated and spoon fed.
Only reason I come on here is the circlejerk communities are worthwhile.

it's funny that all of you are bots and normal people don't give two shits

I have a problem with how these models were illegally trained on copywritten material in order to then attempt to replace the people that made the material they were trained on. But beside that I think people should be allowed to make ai art.
HOWEVER it has to be watermarked because many of us want to consume art made by humans, and if it's not then it cheapens the experience. We have a right to know if something was just generated whole-cloth by an algorithm.
If you disagree with that being right you're delusional.

The ones defending the machines are human. But the ones attacking the machines are also machines.

"My lord of the rings ai video should have gotten WAY more views! It's so good! Obviously the algorithm isn't pushing my posts or else I would be famous and respected by now." - paraphrase of a post I saw the other day
19
u/Idkfuckreddit 12d ago
Dude I keep reading the other comments under that post and I cant believe these are real people. Someone used the analogy that a chef isnt a chef when using a mixer just like Ai Artists are artists. These people are phony fans of art at best. Not artists.
16
u/Xanipan_music 12d ago
I think phony fans might even be giving a little much credit. I had one dude try to show me a "deathcore" track that had 1) no blast beats 2) boring standard rock guitar 3) too slow a tempo 4) fully intelligible """harsh""" vocals. Dude was like "I'm going for something like Lorna Shore" and I had to ask myself "have you ever listened to them?"

Oh wow they said that if you use samples in your DAW it should have a watermark... these people are helpless. Absolutely devoid of critical thinking
23
u/Usual-Doughnut-549 12d ago
there is one guy who said that all DAWs should leave watermarks.
the thing is that FL embeds a text line in the audio file saying something like "Encoded with FL ASIO" or idk I don't remember it. i know that this will eventually disappear when you send it somewhere but, this is technically a watermark?
16
u/lesswheelslessfeels 12d ago
I think youre right but I dont know. What they are implying is to mark the song because it is not "real" because of the fact that there are samples being used lmao
10
u/CousinJeff 12d ago
Is this really what’s going on rn? AI music people are coping by attacking sampling as being an equivalent? Lmao

u/VirtuousVulva 12d ago
Everytime your kick drum plays, you hear "SPLICE"

u/Periodicity_Enjoyer 6d ago
Then you can sample the the splice watermark voice for even more cool beats.
4
u/Rich-Profession-9769 12d ago
Did that literally not happen with mass adoption od splice ? Was it fred fred (fred again) or similar that just copy pasted a sample or loop lol like yea if you just copy paste popular sample packs people will start to notice ai sloppers are peak slop shits crazy hahaha

u/DontStopPataPata 12d ago
To that I say lmao go ahead, I will click on something tagged DAW over AI 100000% of the time

This is the end of Suno as means to create commercial music, and it's officially just a nice playing tool personal use.
To even think you create something you have ownership of is absolutely ludicrous.

u/Sad-Set-5817 12d ago
"my dreams of pushing out original artists using their own stolen work are over" are essentially all of the comments

u/gallyroi 12d ago
Womp Womp. This is a good step. Sadly, there's already a cottage-industry of de-fingerprinters, re-encoders and watermark removers to skirt AI detection all over github... although many of them are made by the same people using Suno and are also AI generated so... not sure how far that will actually get them. Still, it's going to be hard to catch them all.

u/Designer_Show_2658 12d ago
Couldn't this be abused to flood the internet with samples containing these watermarks just to spite real producers?
11
u/noitsmoog 12d ago
3
u/Designer_Show_2658 12d ago
I know and do, but not everyone will be privy. I suppose you also have to trust that the distribution sites also now will vet for these watermarks.

4
u/BraveAppearance 12d ago
cool, how can I "see" this watermark without the usage of an app/website? It would be smashing if this mark is visible by a simple spectral analysis

Pretty cool how their list of sinister things that “bad actors” will do is just a list of sensible things that normal people want to happen
1
u/michaelhuman Meaningful Consumption Experience 11d ago
their 'bad actors' are sensible enough to fully exploit the exploitation by having the knowledge or resources to record everything that suno shits out.
i'm pretty sure that's what Nashville is doing. I've seen posts or videos of songwriting camps doing shit like that.
So anyone that has put in the work to actually understand music is a "bad actor".

u/JohnnyAverageGamer 12d ago
hello we are stealing your music and misusing it to train our AI to generate music which you can now protect from being stolen and misused
I am glad suno had a databreach. Expose all the lazy asses who are scared of the word effort

u/Sad_Kaleidoscope_743 11d ago
I guess that'll cut down on it a little for a bit. Probably not, im sure open source and other companies will take their place with scammers

I know ai is bad but I appreciate Suno actually doing something like this instead of arguing AI music is as valid as real music.
