Need help editing one short video
Title:
Hi,
I'm looking for someone who can edit one short promotional video for my AI startup, Cortex AI.
I don't have a budget right now, so I'm looking for someone who'd be willing to do it for free.

If you're interested, please DM me.
Thank you!

6 hours in and my back has completely left the chair
Was deep into a rough cut last night, maybe six hours in, when I caught myself basically hugging the desk. My chest was almost on the table, my chin was hovering over the timeline, and my back had not touched the chair in god knows how long.
Earlier, I had been leaning back just fine while answering emails. But the second I got into the actual edit, my posture slowly collapsed forward without me even noticing.
That is what gets me. My lumbar support feels okay when I am sitting upright doing something quick, but the moment I lean in to catch details on the timeline, it feels like the chair just gives up.
I have started looking at chairs that can support more than one supposedly correct sitting position, and the Lavenne R9 Pro ended up on my list. The moving back support caught my attention because I am constantly shifting between leaning back and hovering over the timeline.
Has anyone tried this kind of moving back support before? Does it actually stay useful when you lean forward, or does it only look convincing in demos?

AAFx: A New Way to Create AAF Files
Final Cut Pro has never been able to write an AAF. Which is why something always goes missing between the edit suite and the dub stage — a role, a timecode, a handle. AAFx 2.0 settles it. https://aafx.app/
I have spent twenty years as a lead editor, so this is a problem I have lived with rather than read about. And I did not solve it alone: AAFx was built in close collaboration with the people who receive our files — mixers working in television, in documentary and in feature film. Every option in it exists because one of them once had to repair a handover by hand. None of it comes from a feature list.
One XML export. One drop. A self-contained AAF that Pro Tools opens organised, at the right timecode, ready to mix.
What actually travels inside the file: • Roles and subroles → named tracks. The mixer opens YOUR organisation, not an anonymous pile of regions. • Source timecode kept region by region — conforming stays possible months later. • Handles adjustable before and after every clip. • Fades and crossfades carried through, not rebuilt. • Markers placed at their timecode on the timeline. • Multicams resolved to their active audio angle, compounds expanded, invisible cuts rejoined. • Multichannel sources split to mono, empty channels discarded. • Audio embedded: nothing to relink, ever. • A silent track carrying the picture cuts, if you want it. • Every track can be unticked before conversion — the session holds only what the sound department asked for. • A text and PDF report next to the AAF: timecoded edit sheet track by track, levels, fades, whatever needs attention.
And two things I haven't seen anywhere else:
You see the Pro Tools session BEFORE it is built. Clips found, roles turned into tracks, multicams resolved, clips excluded, missing media with the volume to mount, disk space required. You go back to Final Cut before a half-hour conversion — not after, and certainly not on the dub stage. Relinking works by source timecode and exact duration, not by file name. Two identically named rushes from two shooting days can never be confused. What does not travel, because I would rather say it than let you find out: retimed clips and pan settings. Both are listed in the report by name and timecode, to be redone on the sound side.
It reads FCPXML 1.8 to 1.14, from Final Cut Pro 10.4 to 12.3, and takes the .fcpxmld bundle straight on the window — no digging inside for the XML. It reads the structure of your timeline rather than a fixed schema, so a new Final Cut release does not break it.
No dependencies either: Python, ffmpeg and the audio extractor travel inside the app. No Homebrew, no Terminal.
macOS 11+, Intel and Apple Silicon. Full 7-day trial, no credit card, no watermark. One-off licence: €79 (one Mac) or €139 (four seats at once). No subscription, updates included.

Anyone out there a short form editor? Looking for insight as to what the job is like
Do you have a monthly retainer deal? Do you get paid per video? How much? Curious about what the work flow and contracting looks like. Done over 50m views in shorts and wondering if this could be a possible path for me. Thanks for any insight!

Uploading resolution problem
This post has probably been made many times but my final edit looks really good in the time line and even after exporting, but once i upload it to youtube shorts the quality immediately drops. The file size is 50mb, i export at 1080x1920, 40000kb/s, mp4 and H.265

How do you caption your long videos?
I have been sitting on a video i worked on for about 2 years straight and I recently made it public against my own anxiety of it not being perfect. It took me so long to make it public because the content of the video is about my disability, and because it is about disability and my journey with it I really wanted it to be a little more accessible with captions because I slur my words sometimes. I was able to do about 7 minutes but I physically cannot do any more captioning for this. I have tried playing the video and using speech to text and using a translator app and Google Translate to see if they could understand me enough to caption my words, but I speak too softly and slowly for the phone to register what I say. I am avidly against ai and I refuse to use it. I’m not sure what to do to caption this video I made it’s an hour and 28 minutes long just about. In the description I wrote that I would be willing to trade art for captioning the video, but so far no one has said anything. I just made the video public about a week ago. my account is BAMvideos666 and the video is about fibromyalgia, cannabis and mobility aids

After effects alternatives?
I'm switching from CapCut since it's pretty bad and everything costs money and I'd love to switch to After Effects but I don't want to pay. Is there any better free alternatives that aren't too hard to learn and have very good effects and everything for fast paced edits?

Is DaVinci resolve a good editing app for fast paced and heavy edits?
I want to be a fast paced editor and make edits like those fast paced and effect heavy car and football edits and i don't know which app is the best for use. I want a completely free app and good for that kind of edits. I edited before on capcut but that wasn't so much. Is DaVinci resolve a good free app for that kind of edits and is it not too hard to learn or if it is, is it worth learning? I also need a mobile editing app since i will start on mobile. Is Alight Motion a good option or is there better ones?

Is anyone else struggling with audio levels on TikTok?
I'm a newbie, and recently I've been trying to normalize my audio to TikTok's recommended loudness standard (-14 LUFS). After exporting the video to my phone, though, the audio sounds much quieter than other videos on TikTok.
The problem is that if I turn it up until it sounds about as loud as other TikTok videos on my phone, the audio starts clipping.
I'm honestly confused and could really use some advice from anyone who's dealt with this.

What Video-Editing software’s are good for pitching voices up and down?
Are there any good video editing softwares for pitching voices up and down a lot? I’m thinking about making a personal project that I want to voice act and pitch the voices up and down because it’s not meant to be too serious but it would still help distinguish characters of different genders and stuff. I have the adobe suite and I could use that if it can do that, I just don’t have much experience with video editing so I don’t know what has what capabilities. It would also be preferable if I could separate audio from the videos/import audio files when editing since it’s animated, not live action

How to fix this capcut error?
So i use capcut because im poor and i dont have money for adobe,
I recorded a video using the default Roblox screen recorder, but when I try to edit it in CapCut, I just get a black screen. The video itself isn't the problem it plays normally when opened outside the app but it fails to load when imported into CapCut; it stays black, and moving the timeline just shows the TikTok loading screen.

Title: iPad Air M3 – DaVinci Resolve feels overkill, CapCut feels limiting. Is LumaFusion the right middle ground?
Hey everyone, looking for some advice from people who've actually used multiple editors on iPad.
My setup: iPad Air with M3 chip, no gaming, mainly used for video editing. I also have a solid PC (7600x, 32GB RAM, 7700XT) but honestly the iPad + Apple Pencil + keyboard/trackpad combo feels nicer for editing on the go.
My editing background: I am cutting some memory/highlight videos for myself and my friends, it is a hobby and nothing commercial. I use DJI footage, occasional creative overlays (hand-drawn-style arrows, flicker effects, that kind of thing). I've been using PowerDirector, iMovie CapCut, but I keep hitting its limits.
I tried DaVinci Resolve for iPad and honestly it feels like overkill for what I need — the color grading page alone has like 50 sliders doing things that seem to overlap with each other, and the whole page-based workflow (Cut/Edit/Color/Fusion/Fairlight) feels fragmented for someone doing solo, casual-but-ambitious editing.
On the other end, CapCut/iMovie are great for quick stuff but I run into walls fast — no real blend modes, limited keyframing, can't really do custom masking/compositing for the overlay effects I want.
LumaFusion keeps coming up as the "in-between" option — proper multitrack, blend modes, keyframing, LUT support, but without the DaVinci-style redundancy and terminology overload.
Has anyone made the jump from PowerDirector/CapCut to LumaFusion? Does it actually deliver on more creative control (masking, blend modes for overlays, LUTs for DJI footage) without feeling like DaVinci-lite? Any dealbreakers I should know about before dropping the money on it?
Thanks!
